This morning, my company did a little experiment- no donuts. We had a meeting last Friday where the founder of our company said that he was not helping us by feeding us donuts on a weekly basis. He asked for suggestions on alternatives to the Friday donut. As someone who once was a (first Thursday) and then Friday donut girl, I was aware of the intense backlash that can occure during the abscence of donuts on donut day. Still, bravely I might add, I suggested organic bread.

I did my part, went to the store yesterday evening (amid the many things that I still would have to do once I arrived home), and brought in three kinds of organic bread, two organic jellies and some real, organic butter. There was some bread that was eaten. I've toasted three slices myself. The sad matter is that the bread should be toasted for optimal toastiness, but it takes a good 5 minutes for the bread to toast :( We only have one toaster and the people who sit next to the toaster are the biggest donut mutinest. They went out this morning and bought themselves their own source of refined sugar and white flower and set up their own spread in their space for the three of them. Therefore, when people come to the "bread table", the mutinest offer them a bagel or cookie instead. ::rolling eyes::

Still, I take none of this personally. It's not my job to force people into eating more healthily. I merely made a suggestion and followed through with it when asked to.
