So my future mother-in-law is coming in today, she'll be here in a few hours. My boy's parents got divorced when he was 2 so he cannot ever remember them being in the same house. For some reason that seems to be very important to him, so he browbeat his father into letting her stay with us. Now, his dad never remarried after the divorce, in fact never had a serious relationship - she devastated his world. Boy's mom is on husband #3, by the way. So he has never really gotten over the divorce....and now they are going to be sharing a roof for the next couple of days. Along with my boy's half-sister, who is 18 and has a mouth on her. My boy, as already mentioned has a quick temper which he gets from his mom. So our cast is:
Mom-kinda ditzy, occasionally inappropriate, doesn't realize how much she hurts her son, quick tempered and diabetic
Sister-mouthy as hell, very smart but directionless, doing bad things online with older men, also diabetic
Father-cranky, unhappy about the visit anyway, diabetic
My Boy-quick tempered esp when he thinks someone is picking on his mom, financially stressed (until Friday anyway)
And me....well I am going to pick up some popcorn and watch the fireworks. There is no way this visit is going to be anything but bad. My boy and his mom only get along for a little bit. He'll try to be a big brother to his sister, who he rarely talks to so she doesn't allow it. His mom and dad don't like each other...and wait till she figures out how much candy and pop he drinks, she is going to go through the roof about how he needs to be a better diabetic. Oh and did I mention both my boys parents are considered clinically depressed. Oh yeah, this should be loads of fun.....
