On "O Adonai"
O Adonai - December 18th

“O Adonai, and leader of the House of Israel,
who appearedst in the Bush to Moses in a flame of fire,
and gavest him the law is Sinai:
Come to redeem us with an outstretched arm.”

Before us, God was;
While us, God is;
After us, God will be.
Before He was in the manger,
He was in the Fire,
Speaking to the Prophet
and leading the people of Israel through the desert.
And etching his law on stone.
Before us, God was;
While us, God is;
After us, God will be.
After He was in the manger,
He is in the fire of our hearts,
Speaking peace to people,
both far and near
And leading us to greater charity.
Before us, God was;
While us, God is;
After us, God will be.
Come and deliver us,
O unending, ever-working God throughout eternity.
