[Hol can be seen outside his house, pretending that nothing it happening at all. In fact, the man is casually smoking a cigarette. While it may appear he's as calm as ever, he's in fact quite terrified. He's not about to go back inside, at least not until he's got company.]

[Ash can be seen coming home from the Post Office. He's holding a small red and white ball. A ball which cost him several precious memories to obtain...]

... I can finally do something. I guess a Pokémon Trainer really isn't much without his Pokémon after all...

[After being startled to their new guest, Hol spots a familiar figure heading this way... oh it's the kid! ... The not dead one.]

Hey! Ya shouldn't brood so much there, kid.

Oh, uh... [Dodging the question...] This is Bulbasaur.

[And with a quick flourish, the ball grows in size somewhat before releasing a small green creature.]

... Bulbasaur?

[The creature is momentarily confused by its surroundings. This wasn't the Oak Laboratory.]

It's a Pokémon.

Bulbasaur. It's a grass/poison type Pokémon. He's been one of my more reliable partners over the years.

[That's what he was missing, a partner!]

Even I had long range attacks, but I knew when not to go against an opponent that I didn't need to.

So yer off to play the hero then?

Well, I'm not planning on actively hunting them down or anything. Not after what happened to Calleo... More just a thing of having him if anything becomes necessary...?

Oh good, wouldn't wanna see ya caught up in this mess.

[One can't be too sure if he's sincere about that last statement or not.]

So now that ya got two of yer little pokeymans, ya feel better?

[Yes. He's pronouncing it wrong. On purpose.]
