I've come to the conclusion that my pup is both the smartest dog in the world, and the dumbest.....
Smartest: He knows where his leash is at all times, he can sense out any form of snack or food anywhere in the house regardless of time of day, size of the food or way in which you might hide it. He knows exactly what time his walks, feeding, snacks to be given and times to play every-day almost exactly on schedule. If he wants something he doesn't cry or whine, he just sits there and stares at you, even at 3 in the GD morning, until you "sense" his presence wake up, see his doggy-eyes staring at you in the dark and then he knows....eh knows that you are his and that you will follow him to give him whatever he wants so that you can get some sleep.
Dumbest: While doing this he will walk into walls, tip over while standing still, stand aimlessly in the hallway for and then, for no reason start walking around the house then plop on the ground and plop in some random spot and just lay there staring at a wall....he will wake you up, apparently wanting to go outside, and when you get up and open the door to let him out he will turn on you, go into another room lay down and got to sleep. Finally, if you point in another direction other than the one he is staring at he will turn immediately and stare in that direction until he sees something....or until he notices that there is nothing to see. More often than not he will wander over there to investigate anyways....
What does all this mean? Two things.
Either A) My dog is the craftiest dog in the world using guile and intelligence to play with us "owners" as though we were the pests to get what he wants in the end.... -or- B) My dog is an idiot-savant with slight moments of basic intelligence heightened by his own keen sense.....
I haven't got a clue which is true.
You all out there: How about you, got any dumbest/smartest pet moments you'd care to share? Or any theories?
