Today I watched a woman walk - yes walk - through the drive-thru at the bank. She strolled right up to the window and conducted her business. I guess she thought it was quicker than going inside.
This might have had a greater impact if I hadn't seen someone walk through a drive-through before. Former coworker Bruce and I were at a late-night McDonalds drive-through in Wheaton, MD a few years back when we suddenly noticed someone standing behind the truck. We were slightly alarmed at first until we realized he was waiting his turn! Sucking diesel exhaust fumes from our truck in the process, but waiting patiently nonetheless. He placed his order, followed us round the building on foot, and ultimately picked up his food.
