The door to Milliways opens on a back alley. Val looks around, and then pulls the other two girls out and shuts the door. "Ok, girls. IF headquarters, if I'm not mistaken, is about three blocks away. Ready?"
Jaina blinks a couple of times, eyes adjusting to the sunlight as she looks around the alley, taking in some of the not so appealing sites of the city. Double checking to make sure Sawyer's gun and lightsaber were still in her satchel, she grins at the other two girls. "I'm ready."
Tahiri stares at the new world beyond the door. It's not quite like anything she's seen before... the buildings are tall but you can still see the sky, which is completly free of airspeeders or other atmospheric craft. She imagines that a city like this was the seed from which Coruscant grew, countless eons ago.
"So this is Earth?" she asks with a smile, the reassuing weight of her lightsaber in the toolbag slung over one shoulder. She had put on shoes for this occasion, and the fact that she's got both footwear and uniform brings back memories of another strike team mission... but this one should be a lot less dangerous than that one was.
Should is the key word there. When you have two Jedi girls, and a Jedi's wife, well, let's just say that all mightn't go according to plan. Val nods, and chuckles a bit. "Yeah, this is Earth. New York City, in fact. Dirt and smog and all." She shifts her own bag a bit on her back, unlike the other two, weaponless.
Leading the two girls, Val walks onto the main street. Cars are driving by on the road, some idly, some quite fast. She turns. "Keep up a good pace, girls. People have a tendancy to walk fast around here."
"Much smaller and more..." she giggles, "more like the Outer Rim. Nar Shaddaa, maybe. But cleaner."
Tahiri follows Jaina's lead, picking up her pace. Ray told her about New York once- she wants to stop and look around but this was no time to play tourist. They have a job to do.
"So this place we're, um. Liberating the sims from- is it heavily guarded?"
And if they weren't on a mission, Val would love to show them around. She walks by a vid store with a faded stand up cardboard cut-out of Luke in the window and sticks her tongue out at it as she turns a bit more serious.
"Well, it's basically the headquarters of the inter-planetary military of Earth." She looks a bit sheepish as they pass a few more buildings. "But, if we play it right, we shouldn't be questioned too badly."
A small grin appears on Jaina's face as she noticed the cardboard cut-out, but it fades quickly as a pang of homesickness hits her. Can't think about that, Jaina reminds herself. You're on a mission right now. There'd be time to deal with that later.
A wave of confusion ripples over Tahiri when she sees the thing in the window that looks like Master Skywalker. She's tempted to ask what he's doing in a window on Earth, but this probably isn't the time.
"Even if we're questioned, a mind-trick or two is usually all the answer we need."
"Oh, Force." Val pulls the two girls into a convinient cafe. "I totally forgot about the IDs." She pulls her laptop out of her bag, along with some money. "Here, Jaina, Tahiri, get yourselves a drink and a sandwich or something. I need about fifteen minutes to get these things prepared."
And with that, she's already at a table, poking at her laptop.
She nods and turns to smile at the man behind the counter. "Three strawberry milkshakes, please."
He rings up their order and Jaina hands over the money, receiving a few bills back in change. A few moments later, strawberry milkshakes in hand, they walk back over to the table Val's set up her laptop at.
Val is hunched over her laptop, thanking the Force for connections, a bank account that -still- has scads of money in it, and Peter's insistance that she learn a bit of hacking. After about ten minutes, she looks up. "Alright. We're in the system of the IF, as maintenance operatives. I'm Emily Baker, Jaina's Jessica Wright, and Tahiri's Kate Smith." She pulls out three small cards, with pictures already attached. "Clip those on your uniforms. It should be enough." Or at least she hopes it will.
"Yeah. Pretty much. They're, well, some of the less interesting ones, actually." She stands, putting her laptop back in her bag. "Actually, as a matter of ironic note, Luke's a pretty common earth name as well. Valentine is distinctly not." She tosses the bag on her back idly. "Alright. We ready to take on the International Fleet?"

She slings the toolback over her shoulder, trying hard not to be caught staring at the cars and buildings.

"What do you want?" she asks Tahiri as she studies the menu nearby.

"How about... a strawberry milkshake?"

She takes another look at the holo on the ID card- a 2D still- and giggles. "Kate, Emily, and Jessica. These are normal Earth names?"
