candy for a penny?

As shitty as yesterday was is how awesome today is. So to speak.

It's the first day of spring, I have a job interview with a CANDY STORE OMFG after work, and then I'm getting on the bus and going to see my family. When I get back I may have a new job. One that pays more. Even if the candy store doesn't hire me, I've sent resumes to a good half-dozen other places. Hopefully at least one of them has need for a sunny, calm receptionist or cashier, and is willing to pay her lots of money.

I will be so happy to quit here, to tell the truth. While it's pretty awesome that I can have my laptop at work with me and that I get paid for doing essentially nothing, I really feel useless and lazy the longer I stay here. I want a job where I might actually meet people my age, that I can really have fun with. Orthopedic shoe sales =/= either of those.

Also I've reached the end of my patience with Alan's sneaky back-door tactics. He commits insurance fraud as easily and about as often as he breaths, he makes plans for the store without consulting or even informing his manager (ie, 'relocation' sale), he does debauched things with strange men in his office while we're here (which was funny at first but is really irritating me now because it's disrespectful as hell and also gross), he pays his employees shit money and expects them to be unfailingly loyal. Also he lectures endlessly on things he knows absolutely nothing about and it drives me absolutely up the wall.

I've had it. With Brent quitting, I'm scheduled in to work with Alan four days per week. There's just no way I'm dealing with him that long without considerably higher compensation rates. The guy is a nightmare to work with, and the customers he attracts are almost worse.

I'll find a job, and then I'll quit. Brent's only giving Alan a week's notice and he's been here for three years, and that plus Alan's treatment of me means I won't feel the slightest bit guilty about leaving with only a few day's notice (if that). I'm not worried about the reference-- Brent's written me up a beautiful letter already. I don't need anything from Alan.

Once Brent and I are gone, I have little doubt that Rio will also quit. We were the only reason she still came to work. Without us she'll have no reason to show up.

So basically, all three of Alan's employees are quitting on him at once. I wonder if he'll learn from this that employees need him to be upfront, honest, and treat them decently, or they'll seek greener pastures elsewhere.

I kind of doubt it, but I can hope.

The other places I applied to include spa coordinator (reception), Ten Thousand Villages furniture and knick-knacks (god I love that store), a liquor store downtown (ahahaha fun times XD), some call-center downtown (do not want, but it pays well), a mini-storage facility (reception again, pays damn well considering what the job requires), and-- get this-- THE ART OF LOVING. It's basically a sex shop, but minus the racks of porno and plus an emphasis on sexual health. Pays well, very close to my house, good hours, literate manager, and I'd get to say I work in a sex shop and see people's expressions. O.M.G. XD XD XD

Anyway, I'm fairly excited for whatever happens next. I was ready for a change and now I have some. Mostly I'm excited to make more money.

Things I will buy when I actually can:

~shoes (mine are falling apart and hurt my feet)
~clothes (I have almost nothing younger than two years)
~belt (the teeth are worn off mine, it doesn't work anymore)
~haircut (I have a foot of split ends, not fun)
~haircolour (blah, brown is boring)

~renew Norton Internet Security
~renew JunkFilter Plus (before I drown in spam)

~external hard-drive (I only ever have a couple of GB open, lol)
~new mp3 player (I've had mine for four years, it's starting to come a bit loose at the seams)

Yeah. I need at least a grand for just the basics, and another half for stuff that I just really want. I only make enough at this place to cover rent, utilities, and groceries... just barely. Bah. Enough.

Moving on:

OMG SQUEE. Somebody made me a fanart for Blue Moon, a Hitsugaya/Yachiru fic I wrote ages ago. It is adorable.

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. ♥

I think I'm done now. Today's just been so eventfully awesome I felt the need to ramble endlessly about it. Sorry. ^___^;;
