So as you may recall, I was sick last week and missed a couple days of work as a result. I ended up returning to work last Wednesday because I was feeling better...but I guess my cold never really went away, because I was feeling sick again last night and today. It's still a cold, just different symptoms this time. Instead of my throat hurting and feeling nauseous/icky, now I'm hacking (I nearly had a coughing fit in a customer's face yesterday) and feeling weak and congested. It's like my cold moved from my head to my chest or something. Erika gave me some Nyquil last night which knocked me right out, and I thought I might be able to get through work today, but I was just feeling progressively worse as the day went on. It was one of those situations where whenever I answered the phone or talked to a customer, I sounded so miserable that I'm sure they were like, "Uhhh, what's with you?" So at around 1 pm or so I asked my boss if I could go home, and since business was slow, she let me. This really sucks. I don't want to be at work while I'm feeling like crap, but I'm also losing money every day I'm not there.
So now I'm just sitting at home, feeling sick and cranky. It sucks because I would at least do something to entertain myself, but I feel too weak to do anything but sit on the couch like a bump on a log. Waaaaaaah. D:
At least I have my new (to me) iPod to listen to (thanks Scott!)...I spent much of last night transferring the songs from my CDs onto it because yay, it's finally working now! It's really odd -- I'm so not used to being able to listen to my music wherever I go. When I was in high school I would play my CDs on an old boombox, and lately most of my music-listening has been via my computer. So I've always associated listening to music with being inside, usually in my bedroom. Being able to listen to music while walking feels truly weird. It sure is nice, though. I should give my iPod a name. Any ideas, guys?
