I just found out that my cousin is six months pregnant...from a comment she made to my other cousin. ON FACEBOOK.

WTF, my family?? It's great to know that I've been left out of the loop! This reminds me of when my other cousin separated from her husband and I was the last to know...which totally explained, months after the fact, why when I asked her how her husband was doing she gave me a funny look but didn't say anything.

I'm not saying that my cousin is obligated to tell me about her pregnancy, as obviously it's a very personal thing. And if she's happy about becoming a mother, then I'm happy for her too. (And yay, more cousins!) But if my other cousins have been told and I haven't, that's just fucked up. And man, finding out from a wall post on Facebook. That's real classy. :-P

I'm more amused about it than anything, actually. I wonder if I should tell her that I know?

Also -- is it bad of me to think that perhaps her being the second of the cousins to get pregnant out of wedlock might make me not look quite so bad should I ever choose to come out to the family? I mean, I don't think she's done anything wrong or shameful. But it seems that the more conservative members of my family now have even less right to be like, "zOMG, you're queer, SHUN!", considering the other skeletons in our closet. That would be rather hypocritical, methinks. Just sayin'.

wtf, family
