It's really hard to take a picture of your own back, but here's my improved chalice tattoo!
I am so, so happy with it. It's so much more colorful and artsy than it was before. The guy who did it was really good at his job -- he freehanded it by sketching it out on my back with a ballpoint pen and then tattooing over that. He also was the one who suggested having the flame extend past the black circle that encloses the chalice, which was something I wouldn't have considered on my own, but I really like the way it turned out. And I love the yellow glow as well. It was pretty painful (I'd forgotten what a tattoo needle felt like), and I felt a little lightheaded when I stood up after it was done, but it was hardly the worst pain I've ever experienced. It definitely wasn't anything I couldn't handle. I can't wait to see how it looks when it's completely healed.
And dammit, I will blog about the Eddie Izzard show sometime. I just never seem to have the energy to write a long entry, since I know it will be kind of long (even if I try to make it short). But in the meantime, here's a link to my my roommate's pictures from the Q&A session after the show:
