So that meet-up at Desert Edge ended up being far more informative than I expected. I got there just a couple minutes early, had a chance to meet the folks who organized it and we went upstairs to a private area... they bought drinks and appetizers, I ended up devouring nachos and had about 4 beers.
As we were all leaving, the gentleman who invited me (the guy who spoke in Vegas) asked if I wanted to go over to green street and grab a harder drink. I said sure and we sat and just chit-chatted about business, the industry, our backgrounds and so on. I was a little nervous, this guy is basically a celebrity in the niche and his stuff is fairly public... I know he brought in over $2.5mil last year, and has done that consecutively for a few years.
Four and a half hours and 6 gin & tonics later, we ended up calling it a night. I can't believe how much ground we covered and it was really inspiring to sit and chat. Our backgrounds aligned a lot, and he said a lot of things that gave me encouragement. He said he could tell I knew the industry really well and that with my background I'm probably only a few months off from hitting the stride.
Friday night, I ended up going to a business meeting after work w/ TonyD (who pretty much got me into this side of the industry) and it went really well. We're talking about doing some pretty awesome things for this business, and it should pay off quite well financially if we can make it happen.
Saturday we BBQ'd in the park, it was definitely good times. Axis is a little fiesty around some dogs which bothers me, he's so well behaved usually.. I think he's a little more aggressive since getting attacked last summer.
A gentleman walked by and took some awesome pics...
I ended up crashing about 9pm Saturday night. Totally missed out on some awesome parties, but it was nice to get the rest. Did some chores Sunday, now it's back to the grind.. wheeeee!
