13 of 30 - Live from Flagstaff!

Jun 13, 2008 12:02

So I'm in Flagstaff, Arizona. Homeland of hereticxxii before he defected to North Korea.

I sat next to this young lady on the train on the way up here (train from 7:20pm till 5:06am), who apparently was Miss Orange County. Silly. So she mentions she's currently taking classes and I'm like "oh, where" and she says "Saddleback," which is of course my local community college. So I'm like "oh where'd you go to high school?" and she says "Mission Viejo High School" ... which of course is where I went. So I'm like "What year did you graduate?" and she says "2001" ... which is the year I graduated!!!
So of course I ask her what her name is again but I don't recognize her name and I don't recognize her. So we play "did you know so-and-so?" and there's a lot of people we both knew but I'm also suprised by how many people she names I swear I've never heard of.
She was a cheerleader in HS, and I thought it was kind of funny that she mentioned that of all the cheerleaders, there's only ONE that hasn't been married now. Several (including her) are already divorced. Others already have like, seven year olds. Silly.

Yesterday Kerri and I wandered around town during the day. Then we went to "Pay N Take," which is like, a convenience store / bar, as I mentioned. Like they have those refridgerated shelves along the wall filled with bottles of beer (and non-alcoholic drinks too), and one can buy such and wander out with it. Or there's a bar with things on tap. Or I think you can buy a bottle from the refridgerator and drink it there? Its madness.
Jenny Hartman and her boyfriend and Kerri's former roommate Alyssa (and her boyfriend) joined us there.
Then we went to the Beaverstreet Brewery where we had "pizza chips" (they're like ... mini slices of pizza!) and the sausage platter. And their oatmeal stout which I didn't really like so much. Not a big fan of outmeal beers. The sausages were good though. And those pizza chips!

Last night a bat was flying around in Kerri's place. It sounded like it was hitting walls and such and couldn't get out but then I figured hey its a bat they specialize in flying around caves. Bat flew close enough to my face a few times that I could feel the wind from its wings. Also bats make a weird sound when they fly.

Presently Kerriface is at work, but she should get out soon and then we're hoping this Indian food lunch buffet is still open. If not we'll devour something else. Live music at a few places here tonight, should be fun.
