Photo Essay at Top of the World

A year ago today (Monday) I found myself at "Top of the World" and found myself wishing I had a camera1. A Year later, I can finally accomplish my dream!

But before we get to that, an announcement! I've finally got two people confirmed for one of my rooms for this upcoming year (and two crazy russians, pavelthegeek in negotiation for the other. Hey Pavel drop me a line and tell me your still interested, it would make me very pleased). Its official, Shalane (impotent_dream), and her boyfriend Petey will be occupying one of the rooms next year. Me = very excited.

Top of the World
Top of the World is a location in Mission Viejo in the general vacinity of Alicia Pkwy & Marguerite.
Last summer my friends and I spent many an evening hanging out there. Its an absolutely excellent place for such loitering. The only downside to it in my opinion is that sometimes there'd be some bothersome gnats around.
Some people claimed the cops regularly came by there and cited that as a reason not to go there. I have never seen the cops near there but I'd imagine it would be a good idea for them to check up on it, it being such an excellent loitering ground and all. Thing is though, from the road the cops would likely come in on to check on the park, you can clearly see a cop car coming but they wouldn't be able to see people at the top of the park till they were half way up; AND more importantly, there are two exits from the park. There's the main road access to the park, and then there's a road that comes up to the side in a completely seperate place.. all in all this means it would be very hard for the cops to pin someone there2.

1Actually the reason I wished I had a camera was to document further evidence that "gay" Brandon demonstrates rather creepy heterosexual tendencies and I do believe he tries to hide this creepiness by feigning gayness.
2Not that we're advocating in any way evasion of law enforcement personnel. These are just rebuttals for those that sight police presence as reason to avoid the park. If you actually sight an officer we recommend cheerfully greating them and offering them doughnuts. Though last time I did that the officer told me coldly "officers haven't eatin doughnuts since the 70s" (this is a true story) I strongly believe he was lying through his teeth.

Vehicle access for the water towers at the top.

Looking down from near the top of the park

Also near the top; the tree that Suzanne (your_evenstar) and Olivia used to usually sit in when we were in the park.

What the crap is this last thing? I have no idea. This is the first time I've noticed it (its on the far side of the water towers where we seldom go)

The lower entrance to Top of the World

The upper (main and intended) entrance to Top of the World.
