On my way to the Plain White T's1 show I stopped by Diedrichs with the lingering hope that I still might find some clue as to what happened to the former "Diedrichs Crew." As it turns out, I did luck out this time and found Krispy and Abby there.
Where Are They Now - The Diedrichs Crew
If you were a reader or this livejournal last summer, or you actually look at the "year ago today" links (which I think you should, so you can join me in reminiscing in real time) frequently found in my entries, you'll recall a multitude of interesting and dynamic characters involved in last summers adventures. As none of these kids can be found now, I've attempted to figure out what happened to them. To read about them as they were then, check out Becka's
Diedrichs Crew: In Depth from last summer.
Mike "the Horrible Human" Kemp, AKA MtHH, AKA "Inmate No. 2172476" - in jail last time I checked. To his credit he really has mellowed out lately. An index of his appearances in this journal last summer can be found
here.
angepup is the mother of his daughter.
Matt Christie - in jail. Apparently he had his stuff down at "the spot" down by the railroad tracks in the gulley behind Diedrichs and "they" told him he had to get it be a certain date; when he went down there to get it however they had him arrested for tresspassing.
Krispy & Abby - still dating and it appears very much the same as they've always been.
Croat - Has a new girlfriend I hear. Also doesn't update his lj (
inequity) much these days, and his old cell number doesn't work. Croat if you read this call me.
"Cool" Kyle - whereabouts unknown. Presumably I guess there's an "uncool" Kyle, but I've never met or heard reference to this unfashionable individual.
Matt Morgan -
around, but not at diedrichs anymore.
Suzanne - Keeping us all up-to-date with her livejournal (
your_evenstar). At least SOMEONE is putting their lj to good use.
Katie D'Agistino - Living in that awesome place where the
4th of July Party was last year.
Becka - Staying sober and employed. Not updated lj much (
momentsxwasted)
Shalane - Staying sober and employed. Recently got a job at the Coffee Bean at the Laguna Hills Mall and moved into a new sober living place. I haven't seen her yet this summer.
This is not necessarily exhaustive of the persons who could be considered part of the Diedrichs Crew, but I don't have anything better than "whereabouts unknown" to say about anyone else. If anyone knows anything more about any of these people I'd be only too happy to update this report.
Plain White T's
The PWT show was awesome. I think it was one of the best shows I've been to in awhile. Afterwords I was going on about how excellent it was to Kristy and I think she hates me for it now because she missed them when they were in the Bay Area.
I was afraid I'd be disappointed because I've overplayed most of their songs on my playlist, but at least half their set was new material. I think its the only show I've ever seen at Chain Reaction to have crowd surfers (lots of them), and the moshing was excellent. Unlike a lot of shows it wasn't tough guys trying to show off how tough they are and how violently they can mosh and shove, but people just enjoying themselves, it was excellent.
At the show I hung out with Anna LeLoup (former columnist for the Chosen Echidna) and Camille (
mystiqmusic). Afterwords I hung out with Allie Bloomqvist (
flyinmonkey) and Laurie (
wrong_cow_girl). Incidentally, Anna, Camille and Allie were originally all part of the same group of people but it disintigrated as so many groups do and I think now I'm one of few people who still hangs out with different former members of it.
Poll of the Day
As regards the first question, assume future interviews would be with real people rather than myself, use the scale used in previous poll questions, where 5 = I love this feature and would like to see much more of it, 4 = I enjoy this feature, 3 = continue to use it at about this same frequency, 2 = I'd like to see less use of this feature, and 1 = please cease and desist with this particular feature.
Poll Features 2 1Yes Tobin I realize there is a grammatical error inherent in their name, that is not my doing.
