Hey kiddies, I'm posting upon popular demand (a.k.a. Morgan) to post about how my trip to South Carolina went...I know that some people were worried about me going, nervous, ect. Some people thought I was crazy and did not trust my judgement, others let me know that they did. Regardless of what category you fall under, I just want to let everyone know that I appreciate your concern, or your support. That's just what friends do for each other...Anyway, I had a fantastic time, Jimmy was more than a gentleman the entire time, a great host, and definitly a good person...I came back in one piece didnt I. I experienced a lot of things that I never thought I would, and had a simply amazing time...So here are so pictures of my trip, to let you guys know what I was up to while I was gone...Enjoy!
This is me and Jimmy on my first night there. We were at Applebee's. We were there, just the two of us for an hour or so, and then his friend Justin came on by. Justin was getting out of the Marine Core on Thursday, so there was a few of us celebrating for him. Brooke, Pam, Keith and Marsha showed up a little later, and we stayed there till about 12 just getting to know each other, and having a couple of drinks, it was a good time. Cool people, they all remind me a lot of our friends, funny, energetic, nice, easy going people. Marsha and Keith are who stayed with for the week. Really, really nice, generous people.
This was the second day that I was down in the beautiful Beaufort, South Carolina.... As you can tell it was sunny and warm :) I miss it. We just got back from shopping in Bluffton, which is about 30 minutes away, really upscale town, nice houses, expensive cars, you know the deal. We walked around the Hilton Head Outlets, got some ice cream, beestttt raspberry sorbet i've ever had in my entire life...If anything, go there to try it :) Anyway, this was outside Keith and Marsha's house. Later on that night we went out to eat at Beef-O-Brady's, which is just a nice sports bar, we watched some of the tournament basketball games, and had a pitcher, and then decided to catch a movie. We saw Ultraviolet, and I do not reccommend it to anyone...Save your money...
This was after we left the movies, we randomly stopped at this place called Keith's Place, it was just a pool bar, with about 10 pool tables, a full bar, and a TON of marine's in there....Goodtimes. We ended up playing with a couple who was there, a guy named Paul, who is a Sergeant in the marine's and Jimmy happened to work with him. His girlfriend, also knew Jimmy from Friendly's where he goes to eat every Sunday. So there was some connection there. We played couples pool with them, where we lost horribly and ended up having to buy the next rounds many times. We just drank there for about a couple of hours and played a lot of pool. From there, we went to his friends house, I forgot his name, but there was a bunch of people there playing Cranium so we stopped by there to play with them for a bit, and then headed back home.
This was on my third day in S.C. Earlier in the day we had gone to Parris Island, drove around, watched some of the drills that were going on, and I got a driving tour of the base. A totally different world, not what I expected at all, needless to say, I was impressed. Then we went to get Caesar salads at this place called The Upper Crust, bestttt caesar salad i've ever had...Muy bueno. After that, we drove around Downtown Beaufort...It reminds me a lot of Newport. Little shops, docks, boats, peirs, mansions, and palm trees, yes palm trees...Really cute area...I liked...Then we baught a tennis racket for me and played tennis for about two hours...Yeah, I lost, what can I say, you just don't swing a tennis racket like a baseball bat...Then he told me to get in the drivers seat of the Jeep and drive...Yet I had no idea where we were going, he was giving me directions, and we ended up on the beach, during the sunset...IT was amazing...We played football on the beach, then sat on the jeep, overlooked the beach, and talked about everything under the sun for a while. Then we walked the pier, which you can see a little bit in the background.
No one was on the beach but us so it was very peaceful and relaxing...Then we walked up to the top of this four story tower which looked over the entire beach and watched the sunset from up there... That's me checking out beach and watching the sun...
This was me in the golf cart golfing at The Hilton Head on Friday morning. My first time driving a golf cart, let's just say, i've perfected the art now. :) We golfed with Jimmy's friend Danny, who is about fifty and works at the Pro Shop, so we got to golf for the day for free. Not to bad gofling at Hilton Head for the day without dropping a dime...He did all the driving and I did all the putting...A good team I would admit...
This was us waiting for our turn to dominate the course once again....Good times...
This is me and Jimmy on Parris Island at the Weapons and Small Craft Section. That's me shooting an M16...I'm not going to lie, I didn't do that bad...This was probably my favorite thing that we did all week. It was something that I thought that I would never do, it was definitly an experience. I've never shot a gun before so it was definitly cool. After that we shot 45's and i'm not going to lie, I scored better than him with the 45...What am I doing going to college, I'm a sharp shooter baby!
Later on that night we headed to his room, watched Jarhead took a nap, then headed back to Keith and Marsha's house for a fire...Fell asleep pretty early, and got up early the next morning, packed, went to grab some breakfast at Friendly's and talked over about 8 cups of coffee for two house...Good conversations, really more than I could ask for... Then we headed back to Parris Island to get something for his neice's birthday, which was that day. He bought me some sweatpants that say United States Marine Corps, and one of the standard grey shirts that say USMC on them... So now I have a cute little outfit...Then we headed over to his sister's house across town for his neice's birthday party..Nothing better than like 20 seven year old girls running around soaking wet in their bathing suits, then watching them play pin the tail on the donkey.. It was nice though, I got to meet a lot of his family. Great people...Then he sat down at the piano that she has in her house and just started playing...Im not talking farting around...He knew what he was doing, and I was very impressed. So he taught me a song and we did the duet to it...Goodtimes, as you can tell, he's a very well rounded guy...Then we drove to airport, said our goodbyes, and I got on the plane from Savannah to Atlanta...Hung out in Atlanta for two hours, grabbed some food, and then got on the plane..I was hoping that I would sit next to someone who was good, because the Ipod was about to die, and this girl, who looked about my age sat next to me with this guy. They introduced themselves and we started talking she was saying how she was coming back to Boston and that she was just done with her Spring Break and I told her the same thing. I asked her if she went to school in Boston and she said that she went to Emmanuel...At this point I'm like shut the hell up. I go to Emmanuel, and then the girl sitting in front of us turns around and says, I go to Emmanuel, and the kid next to her says, I go to Wentworth and another guy says he goes to Mass Pharm, and another girl says she goes to Mass Art...It was nuts...So me and this girl Meghan, who was sitting next to me from Emmanuel, and her brother who graduated from Boston College, and is now working at Mass General played HangMan for the entire two hours, but it was the fastest two hours of my life...We laughed a lot, and we still keep in touch, and I now see her around campus all the time...Small, small world...
Well kiddies, that was my week, hope you all enjoy!!!
