lol, so I'm a loser and think it's super exciting that I got a glucose monitor today. For those of you who don't know -- that's the thing where I prick my finger to get a drop of blood so I can test it to see just how off my blood sugar is. I get so sick of trying to guess if I'm just feeling sick or if my blood sugar is off, and forcing food down when I'm not hungry in order to make myself feel better. It's really hard to maintain a decent weight when I'm eating all the time. I hope this will alleviate some of those more annoying (but not so serious) issues.
I've used it twice already today! The first time mom and I didn't realize that the kit came with lancets, so she used a sterile needle and stabbed my finger for me.... she didn't mind because she's used to stabbing children at work..... I minded because she had to do it twice (the first time I didn't bleed enough). Then right after she did that she started digging through some of the papers and pamphlets that came with the kit (while I was figuring out my blood levels) and *ope!* out fell a little baggy of lancets. Nice. So I decided to check myself one more time before I went to bed tonight. I figured it'd be nice to have a practice run in with the lancet and injector pen before I start carrying the thing around with me at school. Haha, it'd suck if I was actually going into a hypoglycemic reaction and didn't know how to use the freaking monitor. Like I'd be able to figure it out in that mentality!
Whooops, the time has flown. I should be in bed! I have a big ol' test in philosophy tomorrow, and I need to be as rested as possible so I can fly through that thing and get back to the high school in under 40 min. Wish me luck! XD
