It is official: I have been assigned a single dorm room in Orchard Meadow Hall at Mills College!
Orchard Meadow Hall
Orchard Meadow Hall was completed in 1921 by Walter E. Ratcliff, a well-known architect of the period. A large living room, featuring paneled oak walls and polished stone floors, connects the two separate wings. The living room also serves as passageway to a small library and meeting room and to the Orchard Meadow dining room.
Extensive remodeling, completed in August 2002, resulted in new carpeting, new student room furnishings, a new elevator, and a new computer lab. Each wing has its own laundry facility.
Resident rooms are mostly single rooms, with sinks and hardwood or carpeted floors. A number of rooms share a California sleeping porch with an adjacent room and many look out upon the beautiful courtyard (with a small pool, brick barbeque, and stone benches) tucked behind Orchard Meadow Hall. Orchard Meadow Hall houses primarily upper-class women. Its special features include a 24-hour quiet wing option, a resumer wing, and disability access rooms.
Orchard Meadow Hall is in the center of campus, close to the Olin Library, the Art Museum, the Music Building, and the Walter Haas Athletic Pavilion.
