Parents and Casino Royale

Nov 18, 2006 18:03

I love my parents. They came for a visit (which means I'll get round to watching CSI, ER and Grey's tomorrow sometime), arrived yesterday and left a little while ago.

We visited the Anglican Cathedral (as Mum's only seen the RC one) yesterday afternoon. Then they took me out to dinner. At Simply Heathcoates. So very very very nice. The nicest burger I've had in a long time (rump burger, muffin, homemade chips and a fried egg) and for desert Spiced Chocolate pot with ginger nuts (best desert this year).

Watched some of CiN too. Was good. But I honestly still prefer Comic Relief.

Today we went to Casino Royale and now they've gone back home. It was all good... and I payed for absolutely nothing... so that was great too ;) The one part that wasn't so great was that the spare room (Bs room) only has a single bed so I had to give up my bed for the night. The mattress on the single is awful... and the room doesn't have double glazing so was bloody freezing!

For once I got to see a film pretty early in its release! And, boy, was it good, or what? Daniel Craig is definitely Bond. Guh! (Also he's gonna be in the His Dark Materials movies :D)

And I knew I'd seen Le Chiffre in something else... Tristan in King Arthur!

The torture scene was... gross and cringeworthy... but it fit well with the tone of the film.

This is definitely a young Bond... one who hasn't learnt everything yet and still has mistakes to make. But he does learn one of his biggest lessons in this movie. Apparently the next movie will be more of a direct sequel than normal... following on from the loose ends of CR.

M so has a thing for Bond... even if she does apparently have someone at home.

The cars, as always, were lots of fun. And a defib machine in the car? lol... awesome. Almost made up for the lack of gadgets elsewhere.

Loved the fight/chase scene in the building sight. So much fun.

In total this movie had everything a Bond movie should have:

- a Bond that works.
- hot Bond girls.
- M.
- an awesome bad guy.
- the cars
- the fights and the chase scenes
- Bond. James Bond. (And that was so the first time he'd ever said that.)

I loved the joke on the vodka martini: shaken or stirred? Do I look like I care? (lmao!)

And oops... he's two for two there on the sex kills bit ;)

And the Miami part... where he kills that guy in the body exhibit: did anyone else wonder what Horatio and the gang were going to make of it when they got there? ;)

Guy/Sheriff: so there... when Guy is telling how Marian betrayed him and the sheriff asks Guy what he wants to do his face so said he wanted to push the sheriff up against those bars right there.

Oh, Much. Sorry it just has to be said.

Will/Allan: both boys need hugs this week. (guess who's jumped on the Will/Allan bandwagon.) Poor Allan - and how much of a character development has there been for Allan, his brother is who he used to be... he's grown so much. And damnit, he agreed with the others. *hugs* And Robin still went to save them anyway... and sheriff got to remind everyone just how evil he is. Will... when Djaq said to give them space... awww.

Guy/Marian: hmm... I think we all saw that one coming. Poor Robin to have to be right there listening to it all though.
