the world's exploding but my mind is too busy doing cartwheels

this year has been nonstop since last sunday. so glad to see everybody again, and be going to awesome meetings that make me love this campus. a buncha education-y meetings [ps SEA is going to do a LOT this year and i'm going to be in champaign high/middle schools more often than college], lots [too much?] of work [i've washed like 7 hours of dishes this past week. and i complain about it a lot. and if i weren't a vegetarian already, cleaning out the grease pits from the gyros would definitely have converted me after this week], a pretty sweet show at canopy, the positive event chain [woo hoo for playing snake tag and duck duck goose and planning to give out free hugs on the quad and having a place to be a little kid once a week with a hundred other free spirits], and even a ladies loving ladies meeting.

yes, that's for lesbians.
yes, i have a boyfriend.

i'm in an education class in which we have to attend 10 hours of meetings/events/projects/services/religious ceremonies whatever in which we are the minority. so, i went to this lesbian meeting tonight where i, as a straight chick, am obviously the minority....except i didn't tell them that i'm not gay. it kinda made me wish i were a lesbian, just cause these girls were really cool, and open-minded, and we played Apples to Apples. i also felt a little bit like i was cheating, cause its basically a social club, not focused on activism, so it kinda seems like a place to meet people...shrug. it was two and a half hours, and when i looked at the clock i was shocked. the time flew by, and i want to go back next week. the president is in my education class, so i think i'm going to 'come in' to her and admit my straightness, and judge by her reaction whether i can go back. even if i can't, it was a really unique experience, and i recommend that anyone willing to feel a little uncomfortable and guilty go and try something like this--be a minority.

this week: of montreal on thursday! work tuesday and thursday lunches, wednesday night, and saturday afternoon. a couple more meetings in which i'll be the minority. oh, and i should maybe buy my books some time too...

fingers crossed that my computer comes soon so i can give this baby back to tracy.

drunk calls from pretty are just about my favorite thing ever.

i love awesome conversations with people who i thought were very different from me...we're all more alike than we expect.

i got a fake football pass today when i was reading in the union. there ARE cool people on this campus :)
