my mom and i just watched the movie elephant. it was really disturbing. i recommend it only if you have patience for films containing an hour of simply setting things up with twenty minutes of plotline and an abrupt, morbidly depressing ending. (although, i believe the lack of a real ending serves the purpose of showing how unresolved the problem really is.)
the reason we went to the video-store in the first place was to get the great gatsby on video. i read the book for english, and i was interested in seeing the movie version. of course, it was already checked out probably by another girl from my school. anyway, i decided i don't really want to see the movie after all. i like the way i have the characters in my head now, and i don't want the hollywood version to spoil that. sam waterston is just not nick carraway.
