It's weird how I'm wishing to be back at my dorm now! I so love my cubby mates now. They're really awesome. They're smart. They're funny. They're slackers and yes they can be...drunk too. But that's all cool! It was sooo fun working on calculus last night from 12:45am to about 1:30 am with Mike and Bryan, while listening to korean and japanese pop that I took from some girl named lisa on the pomona network. Pomona's been really great and the people are wonderful. I may still be the somewhat shy/quiet/conservative one of the group, but we've all learned to respect each other and it's just sooo fun! And the food and dining halls are just sooo great there! On a side note, I went to visit Mrs. Parker today and she tells me that I look older now...not to sure if that's a good thing...though for some queer reason, people at Pomona tend to think that I'm some sophomore mentor when I'm really just some freshman in Lyon. I also talked for a very short time with Mrs. Williams. Nope, didn't get to talk to Mr. Williams, but I'll get to that some day. There's so much to tell! Anywho, here's a mini-synopsis of my what I learned/experienced in Pomona.
Good/Cool Things That I've Learned:
1) Drunk people can be very funny and retarded.
2) Math can be fun if it's taught by a very cool teacher. I soooo love my calculus teacher! Seriously, Prof Sarkis can teach me all my math. I soooo love his class! I love it more than history!
3)I don't really have to worry about being stuck with the not so smart / slacker in group work because i have enough confidence to know that we all got into Pomona somehow---we can't be too lazy or stupid.
4)I can excuse people for being drunk and stuff because deep down inside, I know they have some level of "intelligence" that would make them wonderful to be around with.
5)If Pomona dining hall food can't satisfy me, there's always the healthy choice at Scripps and the delicious, yet more fattening food choices at CMC.
6) People are very friendly and eager to help out if you ask them too.
7) It's fun to have time to play around while doing hw. :) Yet I think I do that...a little too much. You people should stop IMing me...I just can't ever...bring myself to shut up because anything compared to history and english and psych hw is way more fun.
Bad Things I've Experienced/Learned in Pomona:
1) Some white people have never seen an Asian in their whole life and can come off as being a little racist, but they're smart enough to not show it all that much.
2)Some people here can be really big snobs, but that's ok because me and Mai and my other cubby mates just make fun of them behind their backs anyways.
3)The guys here are...not that great and those who are cool are usually taken. They're basically semi-nerds. They dress alright and some can socialize and have a fun time (well, my cubby mates can), but others come off really serious, snobby or boring. But that's not of my concern. Just that if any of you girls out there want to hook up with a Pomona guy...think twice about it.
4)There are sucky teachers everywhere. You would think Pomona would have top quality teachers, but NO. I've known 2 who are terrible and managed only to transfer out of one class. First year teachers here SUCK! Some chem teachers here (at least the ones that are teaching right now) really suck too.
5) History classes give too much work, so my lazy self tells me to rethink on a history minor.
Hmm...that's it for now...I should go do my laundry now and then for some fun math hw (and I'm NOT being sarcastic here) I sooo love calculus now!
