EuroTrip!!! (sorta)

How valid would people think is the idea of a road-trip to Sydney during the month off mid-year between Uni semesters?  Also, any tips from anybody who's ever done anything like this?

The days of it being cheaper to drive are well and truly over. Airlines can offer group rates for groups over 10 or 20 ppl, but quite often, the red-e-deals are better, albeit less flexible.

Make sure everyone is going with a similar wallet, or at least a good understanding of the lowest budget and enough people for the group to split up and do things separately (eg if there's a group who want to go for a decent meal and a group who want maccas, it saves resentment which may come up from one lot of people missing out, because someone was too poor, or someone going broke, because the rest of the group want to eat at Tetsuyas.

I think it's handy to have people go basically in pairs or 3's, and then socialise when they want to, once they get there. Band together in a few touristy places and go as a group, but otherwise, have 2's or 3's for things like shopping, etc. Has the added benefit that if 2 are mugged or are late for a performance, it's less impact than 15. (just like groupwork assignments in uni)

I have shown quite a few people around sydney, I'm quite happy to make you another one, whether in a group or on a lone holiday. I need all the excuses I can get to go on planes.
