Hello everyone, I know it's been a long time. I can't believe that the summer is already half over. I feel like I got out of class last week. Well here's the update.
I have started working at Nova Digital again (I had an internship there in high school) and I am now a field survey technician and a GIS specialist. The job is long and kind of boring when they make me stay inside and work on the computers, but going into the field is a lot of fun. The money's not bad but only pays once a month and they will pay for some of my school if it's work related. I'm going to see if I can take a refresher for macromedia software and pass it off as a business expense. Flash and dreamweaver are sweet once again...i've finally gotten over hating graphic design type stuff. I'm still at the garage on Saturdays and Sunday is my only day off. I have also been doing some body work at my house and am designing graphics for a company that has stores on military bases in afghanistan. I thought that was pretty sweet. I've been staying extraordinarily busy, but it sucks because I feel like I can't get what I want to do done.
My sculpture stuff has been gathering dust in the garage because I haven't touched it in weeks, and the drawing that I do is, in my mind, mediocre at best. I really need to get some more oils and wood to draw on. I really like the feel of whooshing my arm across a large wall like space and knowing that i'm making something. The scale makes it significant. I've also picked up the tattoo machine again and I have a bunch of leather scraps i've been running it across. I'm getting my skull skills back on point...unfortunately the leather is not really the appropriate substitute for skin because of its texture, but you have to make due sometimes right?
Michael graduated high school this year and had a two week break before he went to WESTPOINT! If you anything about it, it's one of the toughest colleges in the country to get in to. He kept above a 4.0 average and was on the football team and wrestling team. He went to the wrestling nationals the past two years and has tons of medals, trophies, and plaques. He had a lot of extracurricular activities as well. That's just what he needed to have just so he could think about going to the point. To actually apply, you have to have letters of recommendation from elected representatives of the state. He got one from the governor and another one from a senator. Jesus. I really miss him but I know he's having a good time surprisingly in basic right now. I'm just excited because he just called and I was able to talk to him. I haven't heard him in over one month. We've been writing letters and from August 11th through the 14th i'm going to be up there with the family to see him. It's going to be awesome. I'm so excited.
Rachel and I are doing well, she's moved a little further away into Balantyne so it's a little harder to just go hang out plus she works all the time so we don't see as much of each other as we would like. Her place is closer to my work though, so i'm able to sleep in a little (6:30 instead of 6) when I stay there.
That's it for this update. Leave a message.
