convention
this weekend was a pretty good one... convention turned out to be better then i had expected.
this weekend i was considered to be "apart of the worship band" which was weird cause all i did was sell cds for 10 minutes before and after services. it was fun being able to hang out with the band and get to know them all more on a personal level then just a bunch of poeple that play in the worship band with will. they were a great bunch of people and i wish that i could hang out them more then once a month at elevate. i also got to participate in the staff events, like the staff pizza party on saturday night/morning. one of the security guards was a funny guy. a bunch of us were sitting in the lobby in a bunch of chairs and he comes up to us and says " because of the situation on our hands (this creepy old man walking around our doorms) all the pizza has been cancelled and is being sent to my room." then a bunch of people started freaking out but the other people got it because if the pizza had been cancelled then it wouldn't be sent to this guys room. it was funny to see people's reactions.
by the end of the weekend i realised something that kind of bothered me. i am closer with other people's youth pastor's then my own youth pastor. i love matt ball i just wish that i could actually get to know him.
anyways so the speaker monty hipp was awesome! i love his style of preaching. no two hour long alter calls and when people raise their hands for his questions at the end every eye is open every persons head is up and looking around because it's so true that everyone cheats anyway. i found myself at many times about to die from laughter. espically when he was making fun of people's prayers...for example, thank you lord jesus, lord god, heavenly father, jesus, holy spirit,god. man! what the heck did you just pray? god knows his name. i hope that a lot of people learned how to pray..in full sentences.
i think that a lot of people were upset about worship because none of the words were on the screen and the singing was a little messed up but that is from two reasons. first, monty hipp would give the power point guys his whole sermen five minutes before the service started so the power point guys would have to throw it together during worship. which i think is totally unfair for him to do but whatever. and second matt lost his voice, so he was trying so hard to be sing what he did. but it was so cool that on sunday afternoon during worship he was able to sing out some huge long matt robinson style yells. when i was standing there i was like "wow, where did that come from?" god totally gave him a voice just to get through worship cause as soon as the service was done we were talking about it and he couldn't sing at all anymore.
besides the creepy old man that was wondering around our dorms the weekend was good. god did some cool things and i got to know some people who before were just there but i never said anything more then hi to them.
anyways it's time to go to school now. have a good week everyone.
