“What did I tell you?”

“Ow.”

“God Dammit Reid, What did I tell you?”

“I believe I've mentioned before that I don't enjoy being manhandled or thrown against walls.”

“Spencer....fuck.” Derek's voice softened and he took a step forward, gently pinning the slim profiler to the wall, resting his forehead against Reid's. “I thought he was going to kill you. I told you not to take that vest off, not to stay on that train.”

“Actually Gideon told me not to stay on the -OW.” Reid rubbed at his shoulder where Derek had bitten him to shut him up. Not hard enough to break the skin, but hard enough to leave a mark, hard enough to leave his flesh burning. “Quit biting me.”

“Stop trying to change the subject.”

“I'm sorry. I didn't know he wouldn't let me leave.”

“You're a terrible liar Spencer.”

“...I suspected there was a slight chance he wouldn't let me leave?” Derek sighed, smiling a little and forcing Spencer's head down to rest on his shoulder.

“Next time. Next time don't take off the fucking vest.” There was a huff of laughter against his neck and what felt like an awkward nod before Derek let Spencer stand properly again.

“I promise to follow that request to the best of my ability in the next situation that calls for it.” Spencer stated solemnly, holding up his left hand. His lips twitching in a nervous smile, warming his hazel eyes minutely.

“It's the other hand.” Derek chuckled, rolling his eyes and leaning forward to press his lips to Reid's. The younger man jolted, still not used to sudden human contact even after all this time. As if expecting at any time to be told that he was a temporary slice of relief and insanity, that Derek was moving on.

For the life of him, Derek couldn't understand how someone so smart could be so stupid. Though when it came to things that didn't come from a text book, Spencer Reid always seemed out of his depth. And this sort of thing, took the fucking cake.
