First: *hugs* I'm sorry that your day ended so badly, hon. And ew, *shivers* I wouldn't be ready for Christmas music on the 24th at 11:59pm. There's no need for any of that!
And now b) It does seem that commenting has fallen by the wayside. I wish I knew how to get people back to chatting and letting authors know how much their effort is appreciated. It's different with published novels because it's practically impossible to let them know how much you like their work but with fic... With fic it's different. I just wish the people-not-leaving-comments would realise that! I know this is an unhelpful comment in and of itself, but yeah... I agree and it sucks. *sigh*
Can we have our perfect world, yet? How's the taking-over-the-world ray coming along?
I hear you on the whole Christmas thing. Seriously, Halloween ended and then everyone started getting ready for Christmas already. Um, did we forget about November and Thanksgiving? Two months of Christmas is a bit much for me, really.
Sorry about the money and work problem. Words can't really help much with those since they're common problems of life.
And then once again I agree with you on the lack of comments. I do like that AO3 at least tells how many people have checked the page to inform how many people have read it, but it sucks to see that in comparison to the lack of comments given. That's why I always leave comments after reading anything. Unless it's about two years old; then I just feel awkward.
Can I just have an "Omg, TMNT icon!!" moment? Because that's awesome :D (and I have no icon with which to respond, so I give you Sue-from-Glee instead)
Oh yeah. I worked retail for a number of years. It's been a while since then, and I still can't stand Christmas music until like the day before.
And let me tell you, people are nasty when it comes to hours. Our mall cut hours for a while, and when I started closing at 5 instead of 6, you would have though I had dragged a puppy into the store and started beating it to death right then and there.
I refuse to get into what they were like before I even opened. They used to start banging on the gate and yelling at me to open early. I would just plug my iPod in and start singing. (As I am tone deaf, and can't carry a beat more than a few claps before losing the rhythm, this is funny to me on many levels.) They left me alone after that.
Good luck with the yokels. Remember, wait till after hours, and then borrow your friend's car that has a police push bar welded to the front, and play pedestrian pinball. The faster they run, the more points they're worth.
Long comment that's really not worth reading. I hope tomorrow is better for you.midnightnirvanaDecember 5 2011, 02:30:47 UTC
-To hell with the 24/7 Christmas onslaught. You're not a Grinch or a Scrooge for not wanting to put up with it; you're a normal human being. The next time someone says something, just remind them that at least your not running around and hanging people with tinsel and sparkling lights to "get them in the Christmas spirit
( ... )
