I haven't seen Superman Returns, but at the same time, despite everyone's "rave" reviews, I can't help but think it's going to be crap. I don't trust any of the actors (despite the fact that Brandon Routh is hot, which isn't to be debated), and really think that all parties should've been casted older - expect for Kevin Spacey, which I'm thinking ( Read more... )

The age thing threw me off. Especially since Lex and Clark supposedly grew up together? And he definitely looks way older.

I think the only person I had any really substantial trouble with as far as acting goes though was Lois Lane.

Movies.com say critics give it an A- and most fans who voted give it a B+, and I usually fall right into line with the fan response, as was the case with this movie. (Except maybe with the +)

Only according to Smallville. I think in all the other versions, Superman was always younger.

Yeah, but not quite as severely as the age difference between Kevin Spacey and Brandon Routh. That's what throws me so much. And I haven't even seen the freaking movie yet...

In my mind, if we're going back to 'who looks most like their original character,' I'd definitely agree that Lois Lane was terribly miscast. And that's not just because I don't like Kate Bosworth. Although, that fact does help. Even so, I was actually thinking that Courtney Cox would've made a great Lois Lane. But then Superman would've had to be much older than Brandon Routh is. Ah, constant dilemma.

The reviews have been mixed all around, I think. Some people love it, some hate it, and others don't really care either way. I'm just debating whether or not I want to spend $11 on it. Boo to expensive movie theater tickets.
