I was planning on writing the sequel to last entry the next day but gosh it's been a busy week and I've either been busy or exhausted from being busy every evening

oo what great pictures, and it sounds like a fun adventure! I've had venison and like a good Californian I've had lots of tacos but I've never had a venison taco, I bet they're yummy!
For a minute there, I thought it was going to be one of those 4WD trips you hear about on the news - when the rescue chopper has to get involved. Sounds like you had at least one experienced 'bushie' with you though...
Driving in Melbourne is certainly an adventure in itself. I'm from Sydney - which as a larger population & more of a disorganised urban sprawl, with connecting roads seemingly a long afterthought to said expansion, so there's no logic to how you get around. Melbourne is much better planned, but some of the road rules are nationally infamous (the 'hook', or J turn being the worst!). Then there are the trams... Sometimes it's best to just let the tollways extract the price from your soul... it beats having to deal with Swanston St!!!
Also it seems like any sane city would have a ring road. Does Sydney have ringroads? Melbourne has the M80 that covers about 90 degrees of a ring but then just gives up, and sans a ring road one has to drive through the literal center of the city to get from one side to another which really can't be an ideal traffic situation.
Coming from the south, if you go from the Hume Highway onto the M5 then join the M7 - which is kind of a ring road, you connect with the M2 on the north side of Sydney, which, as of a couple of months ago, now connects directly to the Pacific Highway to continue on your way... & you won't even see the Sydney CBD, let alone drive through any of it
