Dungeons and Dragons really depends on the group you're with. It can be really fun or it can be kind of boring. It helps if the Dungeon Master is a good story teller and knows what they're doing to lead the group in a good direction.

I like Paul Theroux's travel writing, as well. I feel somehow, though, that I don't much like him as a person. Not sure exactly why.

Hmm I'm not sure how I'd feel about him as a person. I was thinking one of the things I've learned from his writing is that I used to write kind of like a newspaper journalist, myself hardly inserted into my accounts of what went on around me -- I've had more than one regular reader of my blog whom I knew in real person say "despite your blog I feel like we don't know you at all" -- but from Theroux's style I've learned to put myself in the story a little more.
