Aw, what sweet bees! The queen looks kinda creepy, I guess I've never actually seen one up close. But I've been considering bee keeping as a viable thing I'd like to try one day, it seems fun and fruitful! Thank you for sharing these cuties with us. :)
Vindaloo had a pretty burgandy tinge to her. I'll try to get a picture.
I think queens in general kind of look like carrots because of their broad tapered shape. I find myself looking at the frame of bees saying to myself "okay where's the carrot, wheeere's the carrot??" (:
Hee hee. :) I think the creepiness comes from recently dealing with a bad roach problem at our last apartments, and all the preggers roaches had these nasty big butt things, and it kind of reminds me of that, even though bees are waaaaaaaaaay more useful and adorable than roaches.
oh it started out as a hobby, and then when I was looking for a summer job back from university I saw a posting relating to working with bees, and from there I just sunk deeper and deeper into it ;)
Unfortunaly I do not own my home and while It can be done on a one hive basis in town with a good sized yard it can not be done when living with parents who have a very small yard or on a fixed budget of $700 a month.
