Firstly of all, a poll is on on LJ Idol. I wrote about
the dog that became a whale. I am presently not doing terribly well in the polls. Rude! I encourage you to peruse the entries and vote!
Poll LJ Idol, Season Six, Merged Tribe, Week Twenty-Three The transit from Sequim to Port Ludlow (ignore
the land route pictured here, since google maps won't show a nautical route) was accompanied by beautiful weather and a perfect breeze. We set every sail we had and sailed the whole way. What would be a 40 minute drive by car took us about 8 hours (since we travel at "half the speed of smell"). It was extremely pleasant. We'd been divided into two watches but everyone ended up staying on deck and jumping up when sails needed to be handled. For awhile several of us were
napping on the foredeck. I'd wake from being totally asleep to the call of "hands to braces!" and be on my feet before I was fully awake running to haul the line, we'd get the sails rebraced (bracing adjusts the angle of the square sails so to better face the wind) and all go back to where we were sleeping. It was a wonderful day.
Port Ludlow is an extremely quaint little town. Adorable and beautiful would also be apt descriptors.
During the ed sail today I led a singing of "Nelson's Blood" so I can once again go ashore! Not that there's anything to do in this town.
We finally got some more shipmates. "Fingers" joined us in Sequim. He is the cook's brother (the cook being "Knuckles"). One or possibly even two people joined us today I think. I'm not sure about this one new fellow, he has plugs (giant fucking holes in his ears, popular with the douchebag-(pop)punk crowd). But I was suspicious of Noah at first and he's turned out to be a thoroughly
excellent fellow so you never know.
This evening I finally got around to putting
a bunch of pictures up on flickr. (+
a handful from the Garibaldi to Aberdeen transit a bit ago)
