(Chorus)
All of that anger that we pour from our veins,
Relies on our minds to support it or refrain,
While the thunder booms louder and your blind from the lightning,
The storms rainin harder and you shiver cause your frightened,
Before you had it all, it was easy goin towards,
But you gotta realize that (calm's before the storm)
All the joy you embraced, ain't even close no more,
It's bittersweet to see that (calm's before the storm)...
What happens to a solider jailed due to his heroics,
His fought his whole life yet he's got nothin to show it,
Doin jail time after fightin in a war,
Wonderin what the hell he coulda been locked up for,
His heart raced so hard as he ran through the fields,
Bullet wounds meant nothin, now that they've all been healed,
Went from torture back to heaven, now he's back into hell,
Studyin the walls around him in his D-Block cell,
The inmates laugh at the stories he has to tell,
Everyday he prays he'll get back the life he held,
The days grow colder and his heart starts to dwell,
In the past so he's sick of the shit that he's been dealt,
He swears on his life that this is the final straw,
The day he breaks out you bet that they'll be a brawl,
A soldier gone bad, and you surely coulda sworn,
You'd never see such a thing but, "calm's before the storm"...
Walkin down the streets you see homeless on the side,
Barely breathin wondering if their even a live,
You bet your bottom dollar that they live out everyday,
Taken advantage of all the things you go and throw away,
"One man's trash is the next man's treasure,
And one man's pain is the next man's pleasure,"
But pain exceeds the joy you couldn't even measure,
It hits you hard like diamonds, so you know it means forever,
Snatchin purses and runnin cuz they don't know much better,
Hidin under porches when the storm takes over weather,
Sufferin with poverty as their mighty oppressor,
While crying every night cuz they can't withstand the pressure,
Shivering and shaking with no blanket for there warmth,
No pillow for their head, no mattress for their support,
But sunlight breaks and they're no longer torn,
Then night becomes a dread cuz (calm's before the storm)...
Now take my word for it cuz these stories aren't for nothin
They both share pieces to a big meanin of somethin,
I rhyme about my life, so take this for consumption,
Tempers flare so high that my mind can't even function,
Yeah you heard it right the calm's before the storm,
I've never had the chance to go out beyond the norm,
So now I'll make my stride to go farther than before,
Throw in every feeling that I have when I record,
Like a soldier in a cell that rots away in anger,
I've got the same rage, and it's all locked up and tangled,
While like a homeless person on the side of the streets,
I've cried my eyes out at night under the sheets,
I don't take forgranted anything that I've got,
And don't ever tell me that I get everything I want,
I pray that someday things may just fall in line,
But it's fuckin hard to try to take it one day at a time...
