I just finished reading the perks of being a wallflower. I'm not sure what I expected but the book wasn't it. This type of book (this type that isn't a type) rarely is, though. The main genre I've always read has been fantasy, which is entertaining, but rather predictable..now I want more books like this (and yet not like this) that make you think. Same thing with movies. Lord of the Rings(the books too), Pirates of the Carribean, Star Wars, whatever, they're all great (well, except for the more recent Star Wars), but I want thought provoking movies like Vanilla Sky, Amelie, Donnie Darko, Eternal Sunshine, Gattaca, The Butterfly Effect, etc. Anyway, the book was great (thanks Tommy!), I recommend it to everyone. Now I know why someone once said that I reminded her of the main character..
After a conversation with Jake early yesterday morning, I decided to categorize people based on what they do when I stop calling them, or how much of an effort they make to hang out with me. There are four types:
1. These people normally call me, and just continue to do so as usual if I stop calling them.
2. The type that doesn't usually call me much unless I call them. If I stop calling them regularly, they either call me after a few days, a week, or however long and wonder what's going on.
3. The type that will talk to me on aim whenever they see me online, or hang out with me regularly, but won't call unless it's a necessary part of planning a social event. If I call this type just to talk, they will do so, and perhaps call me back a few times, but if I stop calling they revert to only calling me for planning.
4. The type that won't call or make an effort to hang out with me at all. If I want anything to do with this type, I have to initiate contact and do everything.
Just something to think about. Disclaimer: If you aren't a person who normally calls me, and you do so after reading this entry, I will assume that you are only doing so because you have fallen into a category that makes it seem like you don't care, you didn't realize it until now, and are trying not to look selfish. Of course, I do understand that some people get busy or involved with other things, or just have a terrible phobia of calling me/anyone for whatever reason.
Also, isn't it strange when someone calls you constantly for a week or so and then just suddenly stops? You wonder if maybe they had more free time that week and they're busy now..or, if they have a reason to not want to talk to you.
And what's up with people saying "brb" on AIM and then disappearing for a long time, sometimes just eventually logging off? There are times when I stick around on my comp, only waiting for the person to get back because there's something I needed to discuss with them. Annoying.
I felt sick today and I'm not really sure why. It's not that bad, it's just that my stomach hurts and I am incapable of digesting food.
IMPORTANT: Eric's play opens Thursday night. If you are interested in going and need a ride, contact me as soon as possible. I need to know who I'm taking so that I can obtain free tickets, and the sooner this is done, the better the seats will be.
new rule: any entries that take up over roughly a page on my friends should be reduced in size by usage of lj-cut. On a similar topic, I haven't read through lornadoone and kyle's post-lent entries yet. I do plan on getting around to it..but I have to be at class this morning at 11 AM, so I should probably try to get some sleep.
