Anakin, leaving a note for a dozing Rory, had snuck out of his room just before dawn and headed first to the weapons locker, then to the beach to watch the sunrise

"It's called that here," she said unnecessarily. "Offically and everything. Astronomers have to call it that now."

Anakin smiled. "I love that," he said.

"So do I," she murmured. "I'll think about you when I see it. And when I don't. And when I'm eating, especially with sticks. And when I play fetch with Vladdie. And when it snows. And when I'm in the shower." She smiled a little at that. "And when I'm just about to go to sleep."

Anakin smiled back, eyes shining. "And I'll think of you when I'm flying, or making a new lightsaber, or practicing with glitter, or learning a new language, or drinking caf." He reached out to touch her cheek. "And when I'm just about to go to sleep."

"You're planning on breaking your lightsaber again?"

Anakin laughed. "You sound like Obi-Wan. I'm not planning to break it. It just tends to happen."

Rory smiled. "Do you think it will always be blue?"

Anakin nodded. "It's the crystal that resonates with me. Jedi don't change the color of their lightsabers."

Well, unless they become Sith, but Anakin wasn't about to bring that bit of unpleasantness up.

"I like it," she decided quietly.

Anakin reached his hand out and gently touched Rory's necklace. "I'm glad," he said.

"I don't take it off," she told him. "I won't, for awhile."

"A while?" Anakin repeated, stung.

[auroryborealis]

"Ever," she amended.

[emo_padawan]

Anakin's eyes lit up. "Good," he said.

"I wish I could give you something," she whispered.

[emo_padawan]

"You gave me a star," Anakin said, stroking her face. "And eight of the happiest months of my life."
