AIM/E-mail/contact info - some way of reaching you: AIM: Aurajen007
Your character's name (last, first): Dream
Series your character's from: The Sandman
Background info on your character:

In Neil Gaiman's graphic novel series The Sandman, there exists in the universe seven powerful beings called the Endless. Older and more powerful than the gods, they are a family of "anthropomorphic personifications" of the aspects they represent. Listed from eldest to youngest, they are as follows: Destiny, Death, Dream, Destruction, Desire, Despair, and Delirium. They've existed since the dawn of time, and will cease to exist with the end of the universe. The story follows the title character through many various yet interconnected stories that reveal more about his character and the nature of the Endless as it flows along.

Dream is, obviously, as stated above, one of the seven Endless. He is the personification of not only dreams, but also of stories and things that do not exist in reality in general. He is called by many names (Morpheus, Oneiros, The King of Dreams, The Sandman, etc. etc.), but these are nothing more than titles. At the risk of sounding overly existential, he is Dream. Simple as that. He governs and regulates both dreams and inspiration within his realm called The Dreaming, complete with a populace of dreams and also servants yay. /o/

Generally, Morpheus appears as a tall and (very) pale man, with black hair in desperate need of a comb, and black clothes to match. However, there are times when his appearance changes depending on the on-looker. For instance, when a cat pays him a visit in The Dreaming, he presents himself as a black cat instead of his usual form. He also tends to dress according to whatever era he appears in l-lol. In other words, Dream appears however seems to be appropriate at the time. One feature of his that doesn't really change are his eyes, which always appear to be shadowed (with the occasional glimmer of distant stars :< ). In battle he wears his trademark helm (shut up, IT IS THE MOST SERIOUS LOOKING THING EVER >O ), which is also the image for his sigil.

Personality-wise, Dream tends to spend a lot of his time being emo thinking about and trying to understand himself, and has a habit of dwelling on his own problems quite a bit. He's known to be proud and brooding, and this usually leads to sometimes rather melodramatic angst on his part. This is slightly ironic given the fact that Dream can at times be a little insensitive towards others, and is not always the most forgiving of the Endless, especially when he feels as if he has been wronged in some form or fashion. He's been called less kind than Death on occasion. (An example? Condemning a mortal woman's soul to eternal damnation just because she doesn't want to be with you even though she still loves you anyway? Just a tad bit extreme, maybe. ): ) A reoccurring theme within the story is change or, more specifically relevant to Dream himself, his resistance to it.

However, Dream is also very much aware of the role he plays as an Endless, and thus takes his responsibilities seriously and reasonably. At the very least, this makes him a very dependable figure. At his core, you could say that he's just a little lonely; this is hinted at due to the fact that The Dreaming is the only realm of the Endless that has other actual speaking characters in it, and the fact that his romances never really end on a happy note doesn't help matters much, either. B'aaaww. ;A;

Anyway, Dream is somewhat familiar with almost everyone he comes across, to the point to where he at least knows their full name. After all, just about every living thing spends their time in the realm of sleep for a third of their lives; if anything, he's bound to know a thing or two about one's dreams, but (like his sister Death) not necessarily every detail of their life story.

Moving along, out of all his siblings, he is closest to his eldest sister Death, who just happens to already be on the island! /o/ So when he called on her sigil and she didn't answer, he had to go see what the deal was. ): Oops creativity what's that.

Also, in the series, Dream talks like this, i.e. with white text against a black speech bubble. The same color scheme will be reflected in his posts, although maybe not necessarily in all the comments that he makes. Because that would be... lulz. oAo;

Sample post: (First person point of view, please)

This place... this island, as it were, proves to be a very interesting paradox at its core. It appears as if nearly every member of the family is faithfully represented to some extent; Delirium and Destruction's influences are underlying, yet so very vast. Brother-sister Desire entwines his own influence as she so carelessly pleases it, and Despair is certainly not stranger to this isle, as well.

And of course, dreams are as copious here as any other environment where life dwells and flourishes. I can see them, feel them, I am these dreams that come to life when the mind slips into the realm of sleep. My workings here are no different than anywhere else in the universe. It is familiar territory--

--and yet it is not, for I'm bothered by what is so obviously lacking. Even the Endless are bound by their own rules, laws, and responsibilities that should not be deviated from nor ignored. Yet it's as if this is of no concern here; desire and delirium spring upon a person without reason, or at least in unreasonable amounts. And Death herself does not do her work here, though my sister has decided that this location proves to be a suitable spot for a... "vacation".

Dearest eldest sister, why do you bother to stay where your prominence is limited at best? Do you know how disconcerting it is to call upon you in my Gallery, only to have you not appear?

Is it truly that enthralling of a vacation?

A list of things your character might have on them after they got snatched up and put on this island:

His pouch, filled with the sands of dreams
His helm. (D-don't laugh at it IT'S SERIOUS BUSINESS. orz)
