(no subject)
So today while I was training my boss was asking me what I am going to school for. I explained that I am getting an associates degree in Health studies and afterwards I am getting my bachelors and masters in Health Ed. She asked my what I was going to do with my degrees and I told her after my associates in Health I want to work either at Planned Parenthood or The Child Advocacy Center. And once I get my bachelors I want to teach health. After I said this she looks at me and goes, "No no no, why would you do that. Don't you ever work at Planned Parenthood." I asked,"Why?", even though I knew what she was going to say because this is the response most people give me. She says, "Because they perform abortions."
Maybe I am wrong but that made me angry. I mean I didn't want to discuss my morals or ethics with my boss I just simply replied,"Well, that isn't all that they do." And I dropped it. But that makes me sad that abortion is all people think of when they hear Planned Parenthood. That's the second time I've gotten that response in two weeks. Alright, abortion is a personal choice and I am niether for or against it. You don't know what is going on in the life of the girl who is going to do it, so don't judge. But Planned Parenthood offers so much more testing, free contraceptives, and most importantly....education. Education on keeping you safe.
I'm sorry. I don't mean to rant. I know this sounds like an essay for english. I am just aggrivated. I don't mean to complain I just want to try to explain myslef even though I shouldn't have to. Ugh.
Anywho all is well. Life is good and I am just so happy right now.
