Billy Corgan: Legend, God or that guy in that band from many years ago?
It all started December 2nd 2004. While looking for smashing pumpkins video's, a harmless activity that went horribly wrong. One thing led to another and to make a long story short we've dedicated our night to Billy.
Then I began to think, and I came to this conclusion. Billy Corgan is the best and worst thing to happen to our generation since the internet. Billy is a lot like the internet, while listening to "Disarm" I think this song rocks! then I realize that William Patrick Corgan is a creepy bastard. On the internet you can communicate to people all over the world effortlessly, but then you remember that this is the same devise that provides midget porn.
Don't get me wrong, Billy is amazing. With one of the most unique voices in the music industry and more talent then any musician of present day. Although you have to take into concideration that he's a huge narcisistic asshole.
Questioned what do you think of when you hear Billy Corgan? Joe Pasquino was quoted saying "When you say it? Vampires... I can see him with sharp teath singing disarm..." What does this mean? nothing, not a fucking thing, but what needs to be remembered is that Billy is at least important enough for us to dedicate our night to him. Nick Pasquino added "Brandon are you a wesley snipes type?" to which I responded "I'm no wesley, but i'm a wesley snipes type" nick agreed finalizing the conversation with "well we obviously couldn't get wesley..."
On a more serious note. I dissected the lyrics from "Disarm", "Bullet with Butterfly Wings", "1979" and "Tonight, Tonight" I pieced together parts of each song to create the following:
The killer in me is the killer in you
We were sure we'd never see an end to it all
We'll crucify the insincere tonight
As you can see there's no one around
Despite all my rage I am still just a rat in a cage
And what do you want, I want to change
Tell me I'm the chosen one
Jesus was the only son
I used to be a little boy
Believe, believe in me, believe
After Cafeully studing this Nick, Joe and myself came to understand Billy Corgan. He believes he is some kind of messiah and believes that genocide is the only antidote for this wretched existance, with the mantra the impossible is possible if you put forth the effort and carry on despite ANY losses.
Is Billy Corgan a legend? without a doubt. His musical talent goes without equal. Is Billy Corgan a god?? That is debatable all that can be diserned is that he is a god in his own mind. Finally is Billy Corgan that guy in that band from many years ago??? yes, yes he is.
