Hey Look Who Decided to Show Up?

Hi.

So I'm not going to bother promising to update more often since I think it's pretty obvious that I just don't have the enthusiasm about recording my day-to-day business that I used to have. My life is mostly boring.

However, I did decide that I would like to keep this journal around, at least for my own sake, just because it's interesting sometimes to be able to go back and see what was going on at a particular time in my life and what I thought about it.

Maybe every now and again, I'll throw in some updates and highlights.

Like today:

So let's see... Work has been pretty good. I've been dispatching NC for the better part of a year and I'm so good at it that I now spend more of my day reading articles on CNN than I probably spend working. That or I am on the phone with my crazy appraiser Patrick who I think is not-so-secretly in love with me. We have a deal that if he wins the Powerball he gets to buy me from Cliff for week, Indecent Proposal style except without all the weirdness. I have another appraiser, Tony, who says he will double whatever Patrick is offering. Maybe I haven't lost that much weight (about 12 pounds down) but it's hard to have a bad self image when you have two men flirting with you all day. Speaking of weight, though, I have made some basic changes to my diet- mostly just cutting out sugar and carbs where I can- and the weight is not falling off, but it is slowly coming down, one pound at a time.
And this is good, because I would like to be in better shape for my wedding ceremony, which will be taking place next May in Las Vegas.
The story behind that is actually simpler than you would think. I told my Dad that I wanted to have a wedding ceremony in May 2008 ( mine and Cliff's 10 year anniversary of when we got together) and he told me to just try to figure out what I wanted and how much it would cost and we would talk about it. My original plan had always been to have the (Renaisance themed) ceremony at the Castle Gwynn here in Triune, but the more I got to looking at the kind of wedding I wanted and the costs that were going to add up due to it being entirely outdoors and pretty much in the middle of nowhere- I just wasn't sure Daddy was going to want to shell out that kind of money. At the same time, I was working with three of my fellow dispatchers who were planning their weddings, and after all of the stress I saw them go through and all the problems they had to deal with, I began to think that the last thing I wanted was an outdoor wedding that was going to involve trying to coordinate decorators, caterers, a dj, guests, etc,etc,etc..... Way too much trouble.
So one day when I was listening to another wedding horror story, I jokingly told my coworkers that I was going to just go get married in Vegas and avoid all the hassle. The rest is (or soon will be) history.
So that's the plan for the wedding, and probably the biggest project that I'll be working on in the coming months. Lucky for me, though, it is going to be much easier than planning a wedding around here since the hotel (Excalibur, of course) will be taking care of most of the details for me and I can keep the guest list small since it's a destination wedding. (By the way Sarah, I will not be offended if you don't want to come. Goodness knows I'm no fan of the loud noises or gambling in the casinos either...Cliff and I just go for the food and attractions. But the trip is going to be somewhat expensive and I was not able to go to your wedding -or Becky's-for that reason, so I will certainly understand if you have the same problem.)
Mostly I feel like it's just going to be a chance for Cliff and I to go somewhere fun, have a good time, and celebrate our love with the people (those that can come at least) that mean the most to us. It will be like a wedding, vacation, honeymoon, family reunion, and a huge party with friends all rolled into one.
Oh, and we do also plan to have a local reception probably somewhere in Jackson after we return.
So, more on the wedding (if I have time) later.

Back to work. The big news there right now is that my bosses have serious interest in promoting me to claim rep. I know some of you have been hearing me say this since like January, but it is definite this time. The big boss in our office already came to talk to me and see what I thought about the job and whether I wanted to apply for it. Needless to say, I posted my application for it the same day he talked to me about it. Not that it's going to be all fun and games like dispatch is- being a claim rep is hard, and a lot of people try it and then go running back with their tails between their legs. But it's also the only way to move up in the company- you pretty much have to pay your dues there before you can move on to bigger and better things like management. So thats why I'm taking the big step and going for the job. It will probably still be a few weeks before anything really develops, but honestly, as often as I update this journal, I'd say there's a pretty good chance that I'll be a rep next time I post.

Well, I guess all I covered were work and the wedding here, but those are the two biggest things going on, so there you are. I'm off to go visit Bethany at Pizza Hut and then go swimming and have dinner with Jen (I'm in high demand today) :). Maybe if I get motivated, I'll manage another entry or two before the year's out. This one will have to do for now.

Oh PS- a short update on Cliff. He was not able to stay at Emdeon due to they would not work with him and his school schedule. He quit last September. Money has been kind of tight since then, and like most married couples, we have fought about it. But, the end of the tunnel is in sight as he should have his Masters all but finished (one class left) in December, and he plans on getting a job at the first of the year- probably at the Air Force base in Manchester, near here. Yay!
