Heh, so, funny thing happened today.
Cliff's car broke down too.
It broke down as soon as I got on the interstate to go to Nashville and test for the state job. At least it did us the favor of breaking down while still in Murfreesboro. Thank God, Cliff's dad came and saved the day. He got a car dolly and borrowed a truck from his boss and towed his truck up here for us to use until we get a working car again, whether it be Cliff's or a new one. Once he gave us his truck, he and Cliff went and towed Cliff's car to the mechanic's. We'll hear from them tomorow hopefully.
Unfortunately, Cliff's dad was so worried about getting up here and helping us, he towed his back wheel drive truck the wrong way and now his truck does not want to reverse. Its a minor problem compared to the ones we currently face, but still I feel bad about it. Luckily, we can still drive it this way so long as we don't have to back up anywhere, and it may just need new transmission fluid.
The whole situation has caused me to take stock of my career as a driver, and I've decided that I think that career is over. Tomorow when I go to Pizza Hut(to help answer phones, etc., since I can't drive) I'm going to let Teresa, the new manager, know that I think my time being a Pizza Hut driver is over and discuss my options remaining at the store. I'm hoping I can become an assistant manager. I think they still need another one, and I'm more than qualified, so maybe that will work out. The money's not as good, but it will do until I get a real job, and there will be no more taxing whatever car we have (especially since we may only be able to have one car for the next several months). Also, it never hurts to have management experience on your resume.
I'm hoping to try to go Nashville again on Monday if things look good, and also put in a resume at Manpower, which is the employment agency that does all the hiring for the Nissan plant.
