Fear not, dear livejournal. I am loyal still! (dramatic faint, etc)
I've set up another bit of internet 'space' (there's a clue) to call my own, solely for the purpose of showing my stuff* to a wider audience than is available in a town where pub-culture rules and, therefore, pub music rules (think only the most famous songs by Aussie Crawl and Cold Chisel and your getting warm.)
*By 'stuff' I mean music. When I get around to organising some recording gear.
*sigh*
Why exactly do I live here, again?
You know, between writing the above and writing this sentence I have wasted 5 precious minutes actually wondering why exactly it is I live in this town.
List time.
GOOD STUFF ABOUT LIVING IN PARKES:
1. my job which I've been in for close to 3 years and know very well.
2. my family which is self-explanatory
3. Bella's coffee and the people there who know me so well they try to keep a table for me (try not to think of Winston Smith at the Chestnut Tree, please.)
4. I have a few loyal friends who are here and love me for who I am, which is nice.
BAD STUFF ABOUT LIVING IN PARKES:
1. Not ever being near anywhere a good gig is playing. The best we have are the Lees (who are local anyway and play Parkes-ish music for the most part) and the occasional Clint Crighton. And always at a smelly ferel pub. That's about it. I miss The Basement and I really miss The Vanguard.
2. Recycled clothes shopping is extremely limited and you're more than likely to come across your own old clothes than a mad one-off. I miss Mothballs in Randwick.
3. I feel pretty restricted in my workplace as I only work with two people: my boss and my extremely boring coworker. I can't make a coffee. I can't play music. I can't muck around. I never thought I'd say this but, I miss Australis Music.
4. I miss Dave and Laura and Bek. If I lived in Sydney, I would be near ALL of them.
But, I know I hate living in Sydney more than I don't.
Maybe I should live in Wollongong or something. The beach is in Wollongong.
