“Rose?” the Doctor asked one day out of the blue, “Have you ever considered getting breast implants? More specifically, of the silicon variety?”
Looking up from her trashy Who’s Who mag, Rose looked down at her chest which she had considered, until that very moment, big and bouncy, only now it suddenly seemed inadequate.
“Um,” she said slowly, crossing her arms over her chest self consciously, “I’d never really thought about it. I… me mum always said a handful was more then enough.”
“But will it save your life?”
Rose blinked.
“Uh… what?”
“Your life Rose? Driving in those contraptions you call a car! Look here, at this article!”
Standing, he shook out the newspaper he’d been reading towards a large lurid headline reading Woman’s Breast Implants Saves Life.
“See?” the Doctor asked pointedly, pointing to a line a few inches down, “It says here that her airbags failed and the silicon in her breasts saved her life. Basically, her other bags saved her…! Never mind. It’s not funny.”
Rose was covering her mouth however to stifle a giggle.
“Doctor?” she managed after a moment as the Doctor snatched back the paper and was intently re-scanning the article for any more information that could play a role pertinent in possibly saving Rose’s life, and the life of millions of other human women in the future.
“Yes?” he said absently.
“You’re an idiot.” Rose told him firmly, standing swiftly and marching from the library with her nose up in the air and all wounded pride and affront.
“But Rose!” the Doctor called, following her from the room, “I was only thinking of your safety! Imagine! They could even manufacture a whole new line of Car Safety Breasts! The advertising campaign itself…! Rose!”
