Thoughts on SPN 8.02

Blaaaah. So after three countless false starts to this post, I thought, hey, you know what? I really, really miss Hallucifer. What if he were to provide commentary on the episode? The words flowed after that.

SPOILERS under the cut.

Also: warnings for some gore and plenty of swearing. And... let me know if this style of recapping is too unfunny/ ( Read more... )

HALLUCIFER. <3

Ha, I don't really disagree with a lot of the things Lucifer points out (things I probably shouldn't advertise about myself, lol) but I think a lot of the inconsistencies were so deliberate and unnecessary they felt more like clues than plot holes? And so I really enjoyed the episode a lot.

Of course, we have virtually nothing to our name, so naturally I-I mean, TV-me thinks of the Impala...

Ha, yeah, I loved Sam being pragmatic enough to think of that, and Dean being solipsistic enough to think Mrs. Tran's soul is worth less than his car. And neither of them even THOUGHT to bid the knife, which is way more valuable than the Impala. Or for that matter the entire storage locker at Black Rock, which certainly has a sizable price tag on it. They might be cash poor, but they have a lot. It'll be interesting to see if they figure out how to use it.

it's still baffling that possessing a female body makes him inherently weaker. I've been tossed around by 90 year old possessed women. The physical condition of the host really shouldn't make a difference.

THIS DRIVES ME CRAZY.

TV-you is too consumed with his own guilt to argue with Dean. See, only your brother is allowed to be judgmental.

lol. Yeah, it's perfect characterization of the two of them, but it does kind of make me roll my eyes.

I thought the episode was rather good, too, actually. No more plot-holey than your standard SPN episode. But getting Lucifer to poke fun at it seemed like a good way to expend some of my recent frustration with Show. :)

I totally forgot about Black Rock! That's an excellent point. I wonder if the boys ever thought to make an inventory of the stuff John stashed away there. Or of any of the stuff they've learned/fought/acquired over the last few years--stuff that no other Hunter has come across before. I can only imagine they fear mulling over things gone by, lest they go completely insane.

Yes. It drives me up the wall, really.
