Thoughts on SPN 7.21

Hmm. Kinda conflicted on this one? But mostly bored. I mean, you have always had your good and bad days, but when did you become boring, Show?

SPOILERS under the cut. (also includes discussion of the preview for 7.22)

Baffled? I'm not baffled. Frankly, I'm offended. This is not the way weather behaves. )

Meg! Meg is awesome. I wouldn't be surprised if Meg outlives the boys (when they finally die for good, that is). Also--hello, Ruby reference! And seriously, screw the angels. Here is the guy who defeated the frickin devil and saved the world, and they're still, "the boy who consorts with demons, pah." Well, fuck you.
I agree wholeheartedly with all of this!

Also? We need a Meg-Crowley showdown, stat.
and this also!

Alpha Vamp!! Woohoo!

Yes on Meg. Yes on Sam. Yes on EDGAR!!! :D :D :D YES on poor little Kevin! (I AM THE PROPHET ... KEVIN!) Yes on new Cas! (Yes on CAS/MEG!!) Fav line - 'They could only think in ovals!Yes on Hester being boring as all hell. (I liked Enias, though) Pretty much yes on this whole post.

I. Do. Not. Trust. Meg. If they flip her the opposite of Ruby and she ends up ACTUALLY being good? I will cut a bitch. Meg is the personification of demonic evil throughout the entire show. It has been my fondest wish ever since BUABS that Sam get to gut her like a fish. I like watching her work but watching her work with them is making me EXTREMELY uncomfortable. Grr.

I AM THE PROPHET ... KEVIN!

Haha. I was hoping he'd say that at some point in the episode. :D

You're right, Meg and the Winchesters have gotten way too much bad history for her to end up a real ally. She's still serving her own interests (and using Castiel in the process), but I have to say, I love the new dynamic.

Oh yes, it is interesting for sure. I am liking it, they better just not expect me to let my guard down this time. :P

OH also I meant to point out, in regards to there barely being any Sam this week and last week, these were the 2 eps that were written Sam-light on purpose because they thought Thomas was going to be born during shooting 20, and then he ended up being born during 21. If you listen to the podcast from this week, they had 'Kevin' as a guest and he tells the story about which scene they were filming when Jared got the call that Gen was in labor. :)

I'd expect much more Sam (and Dean) the next 2 weeks. :)

Oh, it happened while they were filming?! I didn't know. :D Oh wow, I can only imagine his reaction at the news.

I'd expect much more Sam (and Dean) the next 2 weeks.

I hope so. :D Thanks!

Just EVERYTHING that you said! Our boys are in sync but their hearts clearly aren't in it... it's sad to think this is going to be their relationship from now on. We NEED passion damn it, not only resignation!

Also, Sam is the awesomest of the awesome. Who else would be able to THANK the person who BROKE him? Dean has not forgiven Cas, which I'm also really glad about, but Sam never *ever* blamed him. I want more Sam/Cas bonding!

I dunno. I'm holding my hope for the last two episodes. I really really wish we are given some more screen time of the brothers together and some important scene to show how much they still care for each other!

You started *so* well, season 7, please don't disappoint us in the end.

I'm also NOT over Castiel taking Hallucifer from Sam, but as you said, at least it seems he has only taken the pain, and not the actual memories and the same problems... it's something, I guess.

Looking forward to next ep!

Yes, just a little more passion from the Winchesters. I miss SamnDean. :(

The Sam-Castiel talk kind of made the episode for me. They have so much common ground now; they should have several, several more conversations, and hopefully we'll get to eavesdrop on some of them.

LOL, I think I've finally made my peace with the Hallucifer thing. I think the encouraging things are:

1. Castiel doesn't see Lucifer anymore
2. I definitely read somewhere that we'll see Lucifer one more time before the season ends

Ergo: Sam-Hallucifer? *is ridiculously hopeful*

I'm waaay too over-invested in this, yo. :p

I am not saying S6 or S7 is better until the very end, because S6 was very shaky and confusing until five seconds at the very end of 619. And then it became SO. DAMN. GOOD. Because EVERYTHING got tied up in a neat little bow because CROWLEY, FUCKERS. So, if they can do the same thing here, I will once again be impressed. I shall see, I suppose.

s6 was vastly redeemed by 6.19/6.20, which tied up its disparate storylines fairly satisfactorily, I'll agree. It's just that--some of the storylines this year have been weak/unsatisfactory to start with--ghost!Bobby, for instance. Love him to bits, but to bring him back as a ghost after a magnificent send-off? No. It also gives the impression that Sam and Dean are literally incompetent without him; that without him, they'd still be fumbling in the dark. I just--I was hoping we'd see seven years (and several Hell-decades)' worth of experience seeing and fighting things no other Hunter ever has or will count for something.

... whoops. Sorry for the mini-rant. I have high hopes for the next couple of eps, though. Like you said, we'll see. :)

And good god, I want to see more of enlightened!Cas bonding with Sam. I think they'd have some great conversations.

Yes. They gave us enough of a lead in this direction that I can't take the episode's problems seriously myself. I see them, but I don't care. I loved this Castiel and I loved the way Sam reached out to him. I think Sam is lonely. (Yes, the distance from Dean hasn't thrilled me in the latter half of this season, but the effect on Sam has been fascinating.) I thought that was longing in Sam's eyes, not (necessarily) romantic, but for companionship and understanding.

I am actually really fond of how Sam approached Castiel through this whole episode--he seemed genuinely happy to see him, wasn't pushy, and seemed less inclined to go "eh, WTF" at the weirder things that Castiel said/did.

I think Sam is lonely.

It's true. Dean's wrapped up in his own brooding, and he doesn't even have Lucifer for company now. *bites tongue*
