pure life and a tummy ache...

so i was in costa rica for two weeks and two days. when i arrived i spoke no spanish, and well that changed in exponential rates. i still speak very very little spanish, but i speak enough to survive. i lived with the nicest family, two brothers around my age and a younger sister, and a sweet mother and quiet father. they were very patient with me. as the days crept by my spanish improved from just understanding, to being able to say a little bit (as in what i needed) and then being able to converse with my family.

beyond the spanish, i got to explore. i saw the cities of heredia, alajeula, and san jose (very dirty). i was in the rainforest at monteverde and rode ziplines over the canopy. i swam up to a bar at the hot springs in arenal and saw a beautiful waterfall. i surfed the waves at playa manuel antonio and saw los monos. i had two complete moments of zen, one while sitting on a roch, listening to the waterfall at arenal, and another just floating in the waves at manuel antonio. i ate real tico food and experienced la pura vida.

it was an amazing opportunity, tho very hard. not knowing the language was at times overwhelming. i got very bruised and sun burnt while surfing. and i have been decently sick since i got back... one of those things travelers pick up.

next wednesday i leave for the most wonderful city on earth. i can't wait. home isn't really the same. tho i know the next few weeks, the solitary life style and the working will be harder. on the brightside, i have three new books to read when i arrive. in addition to the 7.5 (soon to be 8 when i finish the only trashy novel i've read all summer, "the devil wears prada") books i've read, this will be my most prolific reading summer ever.

hannah leaves tomorrow for the beach and then for israel. the summer is really ending, and i've still got a month left until school starts.

ps- the movie i was watching on tv, just froze. wierd, eh?
