Watched the Japan v. Croatia game, was rather pleased that they managed to hold Croatia to a 0-0 tie. There were some good goal opportunities for both teams that just weren't capitalized on, so it was fairly exciting to watch. Still kinda pissed that I missed the US game AGAIN (I was watching the Netherlands v. Ivory Coast, but turned it off at the half in order to take a nap before waking up for the USA game at 3am... woke up, turned on the tv, and couldn't find the game ANYWHERE I AM EMO (T_T)), but hopefully I can catch the game against Ghana later this week. I really hate that everything's on at such an inconvenient time here. :(
In other news, yesterday I watched Alyson on tv before going down to Osaka with Laura to meet up with her and Asuka (a girl we met at the first KanJani concert in May) and her two friends. We got Mexican food for dinner, introducing the Japanese girls to a whole new world of cuisine. As always, it was delicious. We parted ways several hours later, after lots of talking, crepes, coffee, and a couple comments about my height. Apparently I am short even to Japanese girls. All in all, it was a fun evening and the girls are really cool. And we'll go with Asuka and one of her friends to a show at base next month, yay!
WOW. Ok, so they're showing on the news a little bit some of the fan reactions to the Japan game, from fans that were all gathered in a bar or wherever to watch it (in Japan). There are some obachans holding 手作り uchiwa complete with tinsel around the edges for some of the players. That's a new level of crazy, I think. They're not even at the event!
Anyway. Today the three of us went to see Dian-san's solo show at base. I really liked the VTR with the gokiburi, the talk section, and though the manzai is harder for me to follow (it generally goes too fast for me to keep up with, I catch about 65% of it) I enjoyed what I heard. :) And Laura, Alyson, and I would totally represent America vs. Nishizawa-san.
So that was the weekend. Also found out we've got Arashi tickets and V6 tickets, which made us all very happy. Maybe Oh-chan will see me this year! (Well, maybe not. But I can dream, right? Silly blind Oh-chan.) My uchiwa will definitely be leveled up. We didn't know what we were doing at all with those when we went last year, and the little one I made just looks pathetic against the ones I've made since.
A couple more random notes, and then I'm off to bed. Or at least downstairs, where I will probably watch the first half of Brazil v. Australia.
- Brazil has a player named Fred. Any of you who remember my stage of naming anything and everything Fred should realize how much this owns me.
- Brazil also has a player named Julio Cesar.
- Since Adidas moved to the slogan 'Impossible is Nothing' I have loved the CMs they've put out.
- I'm not sure what's going on in the Puma soccer CMs right now.
- Adidas has a blue edition of their Top Salas shoes again right now, though not exactly like the ones I used to have. I need new shoes. Yes? No? How long can I keep this blue-shoes trend up?
