Slightly Stale Tuesday

My plan to post every week hasn't had a good month? *blush*   But good time to break that losing streak, right?

So have some late vid recs from Wiscon! I haven't watched everything unfamiliar to me yet from the vid playlist, so these are just a few of the premieres.

Parable by chaila:   I'm biased.  Parables is my favorite series from Octavia Butler.  Lauren Olamina is my favorite narrator in a book.  I made art at the vidpost even.  But I'm really in such complete awe of this vid I can't believe it exists sometimes.  It's a great character piece that builds on Lauren's will, prescience, and general amazingness, but especially how eerily her history echoes in our present.  Fantastically edited and resonant even without book knowledge, this visually IS Parables to me now and it's a joy to watch all of these sources weave into Butler's words.

(And a great hook if you want to add a dystopic future to your summer reading! *coughnudgecough*)

Machine by beccatoria: Ahhh, I didn't expect a vid from the game Mass Effect to be the thing I can't stop watching, but here's this compelling dance between technology and biology I didn't even know I needed in my life and I'm hooked.  I don't know the character moving through this universe at all, but It. Is. Stunning, all the way from the perfection of the "bifocal" line at the beginning to the last shot.

The Skins by such_heights: Doppelgangers! I love this trope so much and the song and editing choices here are amazing.  Alternates between awkward, creepy, and sexy, it's really just the most fun.
