no way there are 24 hours in this thing

Argh, here goes yet another week where I think that it's a shame I haven't posted today, but busy and there's always tomorrow AND THEN IT IS FRIDAY.  Anyway.  Baby steps, y'all.  I'm clearing through open tabs this weekend.

THINGS I HAD THOUGHTS ON WEEKS AGO

As usual we are of one mind. I didn't hate the Doctor Who finale or anything, but it was just so...I don't know, small compared to the last one, which was epic and beautiful and managed to "cheat" the cliffhanger without it being a cheat at all whereas this one felt like a big cheat and also made no sense the more I thought about it. Oh well, I suppose lightning can't always be caught twice or...whatever that saying is. But I...feel a sense of quiet loss for the love I once had for season five.

And as to Fringe, yes! Peter came back and I was like, no, wait, what, already? That's just not fair! I want to know more about why Olivia hasn't been tested and reactivated yet and why NINA FREAKING SHARP has been parenting her! And and and, just everything that's got nothing to do with Peter! And it's unfair of me but I just...this show is so much more interesting when it's not pretending he's anything other than a plot device, but...I fear his return heralds their fifteenth attempt to make him compelling. Blah. I guess we'll see? It has been fabulous so far, maybe they won't repeat the end of S3. Which again I didn't hate or anything, it was just so much less amazing than the earlier part of the season. (Also is it wrong that in the three scenes or whatever they've had together, I ship Olivia and OurLincoln more than I have ever in my entire life shipped Olivia and Peter?)

Finally, COMICS! I'm at my work lunch break so I can't check it out now, but I'm down to basically only reading two webcomics right now, so I'll check this out!

As to monthlies, I definitely feel your pain on the month-by-month for 20 pages thing. Most of my comic reading life I've only been reading tie-ins for Star Wars, BSG or Farscape and the like, and have focused on trade paperbacks for the rest of it, and it's always frustrating that it's so short. I'm actually finding I'm handling it better now that I'm making an effort to get more monthly comics because it's more distracting. I get about three a week, so I'm never more than seven days away from new instalments of several stories, which helps take the edge of WTH 30 DAYS FOR MORE WONDER/BATWOMAN?!

But that only works if there are other comics you're actually interested in. Or at least willing to read because then you can taunt your husband for liking them. (Stupid Captain Atom).

The other option is just to trade-wait and get the paperback in six months or so when it's out. Lots of people do that, and I keep hearing it's to save money but I don't think that you save more than a dollar or two per book. Mostly I think it's nice because then you get more story at once, but honestly I'm (a) too impatient and (b) it's still serialised and I'll still be like, HOW LONG until new stuff?! just on a different scale. It's not the same as getting to go back and read a complete standalone story (as, unusually, Batwoman: Elegy kind of is) or a whole run from a single author that they had some amount of time to tie together an end for (like the Rucka or Simone Wonder Woman runs). In other words, we're still circling back to (a) I'm impatient. ;)

CRUEL, CRUEL SERIALISED FICTION.

Yeah, I enjoyed a lot of the finale and this last season generally, but eh. Fairly underwhelmed by all the larger arc stuff, even if I've come around to River Song=Melody Pond. For me, I really think it just feels anti-climactic, which it might not have if the whole thing hadn't built up to the Doctor tricking his own death.

Fringe! My love for these recent eps has been wary since it does feel like they were placeholding until Peter's return. After season 3 though, I'm pretty wary of Fringe doing epic plot things anyway, so it was still nice to explore the things that've changed. In my perfect TV world there would have been more cooperating between universes + Rachel and Ella, but still. Nice.

Also is it wrong that in the three scenes or whatever they've had together, I ship Olivia and OurLincoln more than I have ever in my entire life shipped Olivia and Peter?

Well I still manage to ship AltLincoln and Ourlivia past the name confusion, so no. ;)

I hope Digger works out for you. And hey, if you get a chance, any good webcomics recs? I definteiyl wou;dn't mind following a few more. :)

I'll still be like, HOW LONG until new stuff?!

Ah, I think maybe a lot of my frustration is that most of the things I end up gravitating towards in trades are more serialized-lite. Finished runs, standalones, etc. I barely even register them as serials half the time. Which is why I've been reading a lot of older, *completed* stuff and probably one of the reasons Simone's run of Wonder Woman was a little harder for me to get through than Rucka's. Now that things I want to read are currently being written and are not enough story, I rebel. Probably I'll adjust. :)
