*hums 'happy birthday' to self*
Wow, it's been...awhile since I had anything to post. Today has been an entirely uneventful day and I can't see anything particularly exciting happening the rest of the night, which is not entirely a bad thing. And it rained just for me! In July! :D :D :D Y'all can laugh if you want but breaking this heat wave is so nice, even if it doesn't last for long. My birthday treat to myself was finally upgrading my account to Paid, which means only one thing to me: ICONS! I am free to choose! *points upwards* Probably I should go customize my account now too, but that just doesn't have the immediate joy of doubling my image space. And finally being able to edit my comments. *g*
Topical to the icon and in honor of the 40th anniversary of landing on the Moon, have a vid rec.
destina has handily reposted her "
To Touch the Face of God" vid just when I went looking for it. It's a lovely tribute to the history of space flight and all those who have dreamed and made it possible. This one's download only, but worth it. My other commemorative thing was catching up on the Farscape rewatch with A Human Reaction, even though I didn't make it to the comm tonight for discussion. I feel like a little bit of a jerk for being rewatch deliquent for so long and then showing up for one of my absolute favorite eps, but I really can't miss this one. ♥
Also still watching FNL (more than halfway through season 1) and
I have one thing I want to say: TIM RIGGINS! DID NO ONE EVER TEACH YOU TO BUTTON UP YOUR DAMN SHIRT?! It's getting as ridiculous as the number of times he's beaten bloody by someone he loves. Ouch. But I think I can finally say I love this show and have started trawling for the many, many amazing vids. My favorite so far not recently recced by
chaila43 is
luminosity's
American Baby which I'm sure all interested flisters of mine have already seen but it's more than worth the rec. Only could find it at Dreamwidth, so if anyone has an LJ link, would you let me know? It's got all of them through the highs and lows of life and football, and would make a great intro vid for anyone who's thinking of checking the series out. Short summation of everything else FNL: Tami continues rock my world, Smash is on notice, Tyra finally got a little interesting awesome, and Matt is still about the cutest puppy ever. And from spoilers I know they'll be addressing some of the glaring racial issues in the coming episodes, but I'm curious whether they'll tackle some of the underlying class assumptions that seem to be taken at face value so far? Also, I've given up trying to figure out the geographical location or population of Dillon. If it's supposed to be Odessa, then is Gaston(?) Amarillo? I mean, I have no idea what the inner city of Amarillo is like, but it's probably the only place in reasonable distance likely to have an inner city. West Texas is just a different thing altogether. If anyone has some good character study vid or fic recs, send them my way?. :D
I have nothing new to add to the Kevin Grazier kerfluffle. *kicks*
I did see the new Harry Potter too, which was fun, but I really don't have much to say about it. Can a 2 1/2 hours movie feel rushed? Luna and Draco really brought it though, I could have watched more of both of them. Snape too. But it's probably sad that what made the biggest impression on my was the absolutely gorgeous new trailer for Where the Wild Things Are. It may turn out to be awful, but the Art Direction is stunning. So naturally, I picspammed it, because it's my day for things that make me happy. I actually thought about making it a little spiffier and submitting to
picspammy for probably the only time ever, but I'm willing to bet this one's already been done, which means this is all for me. It got, er, a little larger than I thought. Oops. Completely non-dial up friendly here.
