*The week from hell*

Wow I have a lot of "bad news" to update about. Please read and comment if you have any uplifting advice/news.

As you all know Bryan's 23rd b-day is coming up on Dec. 9th. He has always talked about wanting a puppy. Last week on Tuesday I was looking online at this website for the "Little Rock City Animal Services". I thought I would adopt a puppy from there, since these puppies/dogs are usually killed with in the first 48 hours. After searching for awhile. I found a cute puppy, I called down at the office and told the lady what I was looking for, she said they were up for adoption that day( this was last Tuesday). I quickly got in my car and rushed down there. As I precieved to walk into the door I asked to see the new pups. When I got back to the "dog/cat holding area" I saw nothing but sadness, filth, and dirty cages. The puppies were in a closet size cage with shit and urine everywhere. There was no food, and much less any water. I asked if I may take the puppies out and play with them,to get a feel of which one was; "the one". They guy agreed. After the puppies came out, I saw this little brown puppy come out slowly almost like he was scared to death. He jumped in my lap and licked my face and he whined. That did it, I told the guy that I wanted this puppy right away. He said I could not take the puppy today,he had to be sent to the vet that next day (for shots etc). After agreeing I paid the 90$ which I agreed upon. I was so eccstatic, I couldnt wait to get on the phone with Bryan and tell him the news. I called him and told him " we have a new puppy". Which at the time those stupid fuckers down there said -- this puppy is a "lab/pitbull mix". BULLSHIT. I knew it was all bullshit, that place, those conditions of the animals made me sick. In the end, I know why I fel this way.

The next day we went and picked our "new puppy" up from the vet. He was cute, and nothing but sweet. We even went out bought him toys, food, later that day we went and took "Gus" (Which is our puppies name now) to pets-mart to buy him a collar and a leash. He followed Bryan and I everywhere, he was so happy to just be able to run free and not be stuck in a 10X10 cage. Later on that night,Bryan had to go to work. Of course mom and I took care of Gus. I noticed he started having diaraha, I thought it was from his "worm shot" b/c he was full of worms when we got him; his belly was so bloated. As the night went on, he became very sleepy and I noticed he was sleeping a lot. After that Bryan came and got him, I told Bryan he wasnt feeling well. Bryan called me in the mournin to say that Gus had been throwing up/diarha all night. I got scared, rushed over to Bryan's house and called the vet. She said it might be his worm shot, however we need to worry about a disease puppies can get when they do not live in "good conditions". The name of this virus is called parvo virus. It mainly runs in puppies. After keeping Gus again while Bryan went to work, I noticed he got even sicker. I took him outside, he exspelled HUGE worms. Then he was throwing up,and all he wanted to do was sleep on me. After noticing this,I called Bryan and asked him to stay the night with us. Also that same day Bryans gas got cut off till next Tuesday, long story. So he had to stay with us this week and weekend. All that night (Thurs. night) all night long that poor puppy puked/drowled/diaraha (even blood in his stool). By this time Bryan and I had not slept in 48hrs. we knew something awful was wrong with Gus. We both broke down and held each other in tears. This was our baby, our first puppy how DARE those people at the pound do this to people, and those animals. Its inhumane, and cruel to say the least. That mournin I called the vet at 5:45am,the nurse wasnt in yet. I waited and called the vet back at 6am. She said Gus needed to come in right away. I got him in his crate with his binkie and Bryan and I left sobbing!!! We got there, and she said we are going to test for "paro virus". About an hour later she called back with the news....

My new puppy, the one Bryan and I grew attached to and loved : had parvo. This life threatening virus that kills puppies left untreated. She said there is no cure, or garentte the "treatment will work". She also said the treatment is between 200$-1000 dollars. I CRIED, BRYAN CRIED....Then she said the awful "or put him to sleep". I got off the phone talked to mom,and dad said " tell Emily whatever it takes we will save that puppy". Mom and Dad saw how much it hurt Bryan and I. Now Gus is on his third day of being in "treatment" at the vet. They say its up to him, if he wants to live. He seems to be taking in his liquids and he even got up and walked today. He is still throwing up,however they gave him medication for that. The vet said you never know with this virus; however its either life or death no inbetween. With that news, I was very upset. However I have faith my little puppy with pull through. Also, that same mouring we took Gus to the vet when he was so ill, my dad was backing up to go to work and ran into Bryans new explorer. It had been a HELL WEEK for Bryan and I anyways. My dad did about 2000$ worth of damage, and my dad just cried ( bc dad has been sick with his dibetes and had to have a root canal.) This is why I havent been online lately...between that and finals coming up....I barely have time to sleep. Everyone just pray for Bryan and I ...also my family.
